Looking for a good all round 2D/3D graphic accelerator card to play games and run standard Word, Excel, etc. Can you recommend one for around $100 (more or less). Doesn't have to be the lastest or greatest as I am looking for maximum compatability and stablility. Also, would you go AGP or PCI? Thanks.
Go for the GFroceII MX. I use it now, first on a Celeron 500/Abit ZM6 motherboard, and currently on a Athlon 750 and KA7-100 motherboard. Can get it for around $140 or less.
As far as PCI/AGP, it depends on your system. If it's PCI then I'd go for a Voodoo since they seem to be the only 3D PCI, or maybe ATI still makes one. For AGP go for the GForceII MX.

Anyway back on topic, GEForce cards are nice for sure, Don't overlook Matrox or ATI. Those are basically the only games in town. AGP is the way to go.

Asus also claimed to support more than 4 IDE devices, do they? no.
Some of the Asus boards have 4 ide controllers on the board like the Abit's.

They guy wasn't asking about motherboards. Since he already has the ASUS, it's a moot point. Beach101, if you have the AGP 4x, go for the Gforce II MX. I use the hercules 3d ProhetII mx. Good card.

Any GeForce2 GTS or Ultra you can get your hands on is the best card to get right now. I use an Asus v7700 myself but don't know if there really is a difference in the manufacturers. I just know is the fastest, nicest piece of eye candy i've ever fragged on.
