Okay, got 2 video cards, and 2 monitors. I would like to set up a dual display for design purposes. Maybe have all my pallettes on one screen, and my work area on another. Or, the product being edited on one screen in 800x600 and my work area and pallettes on the other screen in 1024x768 or higher. Never worked with a dual display before, so...
1) can these things be done?
2) any advice on how to go about doing it?

Most os's will handle dual monitors, you usualy need two pci vidio cards, or one pci and one agp, isa USUALY doesn't work for some reason. Put both cards in and boot, they should pick up by PNP. If they don't check for clashing IRQ and memory settings. Hope this is some help. Good luck.
Damn, I got an AGP and a PCI. Guess I'll give it a shot anyway. Running Win2k SP2, so hopefully whatever issues existed have been worked out. Thanx for your response. :D :D :D
AGP and PCI will work if they don't conflict with one another.

Hope I'm not too late on this topic. We have a couple of machines at work that use the dual display thing. (Working with 3D Studio Max, Poser and the likes...)
An AGP and PCI will work great in W2K. It automatically picks up on what you're trying to do and you can configure it in display properties just like with one monitor.
It sounds from your post like you hadn't set it up yet. So just let me say "no worries." It's going to be easy. :D

As long as the PCI card is compatible with going dual. Not all are but you have lots of options. I always use two ATI cards, one AGP and one PCI and have never had any problems with dual displays.Quote:
