Does ANYONE understand the i810 video?

Trying to get an emachine into agp mode. I assume it is not because wcpuid and sandra say it is not. Wind98se. Celeron 600. Tried latest intel drivers(emachine does not post them, says use your recovery disk, ugh!)Tried all the posted versions of the drivers from Intel. There is no bios setting for anything related to video!!
The machine says it is using 1mb for video on the very first screen, before the bios. I have 32mb ram in the system. Do I need more to get agp enabled? Is it in agp mode, but those diagnostic programs don't recognize it? Does anyone really understand what is going on? I am pretty pissed...

My wifes comp is an intel CA810 and from what I understand about the 810 in a nutshell is that AGP memory is only used when needed (HUB architecture) sometimes my wifes computer only shows 1 meg sometimes 8 meg being used. If you only have 32 meg installed I would recommend a minimum of 64 meg. Even with that, win98 and ME hit the hard drive alot. Or install a PCI video card and disable the 810 graphics altogether. I have to admit though with the newest DMA drivers intel has put out lately for this chipset it sure is a speedy computer. Hope this helps.

as a note, if I remember correctly, the onboard video on the intel i81x chipsets is not agp, its pci. thats why intel finally added an agp slot when they came out with the i815 chipset. the boards use sma (shared memory arcitecture).

The 810 video does run off of the agp bus. It gets its memory from dynamically allocated ram. It starts off with 1 meg, then if more is needed then the chipset allocates even more from main memory. However, if you have a pci video card, using it is recommended as the 810 is extremely slow, even for 2d work, and does 'steal' ram from main memory.
