Bad Romance

Long Black Train by Richard Hawley. I can't get enough of it! Heard it on "V for Vendetta" Blu-ray and it haunted me until I found it.
AAARRRGH! I hate it when good links go bad! First, I lost all my Necroposting Award graphics, now it's Bad Romance! Fine. Here's an updated link to a version that is far more pretentious than the original, as well as being less charming and less humorous. Still funny.
Oh, yeah. What am I listening to now? Well my Anime Girl turned me onto Lithium Flower, and The Sore Feet Song. Wait for the second verse. I also liked Braille from the movie Ondine.
Just the other day, one of my tomcats decided that a box of CDs wasn't adequately marked with the sign of his majesty and power; so he anointed it. Liberally. While I was cleaning the Kitty Whiz (strangely like Cheese Whiz in many ways) off of the disks, I found myself saying, "Wow! David Grisman!! I haven't listened to him in years!"

And, if you love Shady Grove, you can't ignore Doc Watson's version. Unfortunately, I can't find Doc's version of If I Needed You to post, but here's Lyle Lovett with Townes Van Zandt's composition. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N10tbEXyaUU
Finally, Townes himself performing Pancho and Lefty.
The latest by Googoo Gaga "Born this Way" - very catchy song. I'm not a real fan of her, but I respect her talent.
Well, I think she's just an '80's retread. Kind of a clumsy imitation of a fairly lame period for music. No, I'm not trying to be nasty, it's just that I'm 59, and my perspective on "pop" music has made me pretty cynical. Lady Gaga just can't stand up to the standard Madonna and Bette Midler set for campy performances and great vocals.
Meanwhile, here's some more Anime music from Yoko Kanno. I like it 'cause it's got that Peter Gunn/hard boiled detective thing down pat.
Ha about 7 years ago I liked that song. I think it was more because I was a fan of the anime Cowboy Bebop than really the song though.
c'mon Niclo, you gotta fess up to your current likes. Man up. It's okay to like Dreamgirls more than most guys! If you're still into techno/industrial, fire off a sample or two. It's music! No right or wrong, just tunes!
Yeah, I like Yoko Kanno's writing, but she definitely needs some A/R work before her compositions shine. Cowboy Bebop is certainly one of my favorite animes; right up there with Gilgamesh, Last Exile, Mushi-Shi, and Holic.
Edit: OK, Soul Eater with it's Tim Burton inspired art is a favorite as well. Gotta love Black Star!
Neon Genesis Evangelion and its remake are good, Hellsing is supposed to have a grittier type of remake as well in the anime universe. As far as other songs to contribute I don't have much else to add lately because I've been gaming so much lately all I hear is game music. Though I do have to say that the Hearts of Iron 3 game has some really inspirational music for world domination that definately feels like it was pulled from the types of parade music for the era. Here is one of the songs from in game though not as parade-ish.
It is my dharma that I cannot ignore lovely women. Wyrd bið ful aræd. Fate is inexorable. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwL-q...eature=related
I was reminded of how I used to like swing music but I got out of it when it became trendy in the 90s. I heard this yesterday and now have been on a kick to find other songs I enjoy of that style.
Hell - The Suirrel Nut Zippers
Put A Lid On It - The Squirrel Nut Zippers
This is probably off topic, but I have been listening to books on CD lately, so far I have heard "Les Miserables", the Deathlands series, the Destroyer series, Harry Harrison's Deathworld and Stainless Steel Rat books, and Orson Scott Card's immortal "Ender's Game". Just bought John Varley's " The Ophiuchi Hotline " and will listen to it soon.
Well the only audio book I heard was the one we listened to on our drive from branson to pittsburgh and that was Angela's Ashes. Lately though I've been listening to a lot more KMFDM but I think that's attributed to my slacker radio being goofy and only playing long stretches of songs by one band in a row.
Megalomaniac - KMFDM
Ultra - KMFDM
Today - KMFDM

Sweaty Teddy! Wango Tango is so loud right now the neighbors are prolly forming up a complaint committee.
