It was a stormy summer evening.

Granny Smith, Detective Shadow, the notorious gangster Sam Slug, and Miss Goodbody were standing in the lobby of the 'Soul-Ace Hotel' waiting for a taxi.

Suddenly the power went off leaving the lobby in complete darkness. There was the sound of a kiss followed by a punch. Moments later when the power came on, the elderly Granny Smith smiled since she thought Miss Goodbody had just belted Sam Slug, who was sporting a fresh black eye. Miss Goodbody thought Slug was a little strange because, instead of trying to kiss her, he must have tried to kiss Granny Smith or maybe even Shadow. Slug thought Shadow must have tried to kiss Miss Goodbody, and that she accidently hit him instead.

Only Shadow knew exactly what happened.

Can you deduce what took place?
