One day, Sam Slug received exactly one liter of whisky after Shady had removed his fee.

How much whisky was produced from Sam's barley before the fee was removed?

There must have been one litre and 1/9th of a litre before Shady removed his fee. Since one litre represents 9/10ths of the total produced, we know that nine units will equal one litre. We also know that nine of Shady's portions will equal one litre and therefore we can conclude that the total produced was one litre plus 1/9th of a litre.

The dead body of Cecil Breath was found at the bottom of the cliff. He was clothed in heavy hiking boots, mitts, several light jackets, and thick woolen trousers.

Sid Shady recounted, "I returned to camp early to make dinner for the hunting party when I saw Cecil Breath and Twyla Light arguing. They had been dating for several years and frequently held heated discussions. I didn't want to intrude so I hid behind a tree. Suddenly Cecil picked up a rock and delivered a fatal blow to Twyla's head. Just then Cecil saw me.

He was so startled he turned and ran. He obviously forgot about the cliff and fell to his death."

When the lab checked the rock that supposedly killed Twyla, it found Cecil's fingerprints on it. Shadow immediately ordered the arrest of Sid Shady.

Why?

Fingerprints on the rock, Cecil was wearing mittens at the bottom of the cliff.

But I have to wonder why Sid put the mitten back on him before dumping Cecil...?

Cecil's body was found with mitts on. There wouldn't be fingerprints on the rock if Sid's story was true.
