The balloon will definately turn in the direction the car is going. I will try to test this at the weekend when my daughters have a party to go to. I'm sure there will be some helium balloons involved.

The cannonball in the boat displaces an amount of water equal to the MASS of the cannonball. The cannonball in the water displaces an amount of water equal to the VOLUME of the cannonball.
Water is unable to support the level of salinity it would take to make it as dense as a cannonball, so the first amount is definitely more than the second amount, and the water level drops.
yes the water level is altered, since there is less weight in the boat. (however the change may be neglegable)
There is the same amout of water obviously, but the level should go down a bit, as the weight on top of the water would displace more water then the ball actually in the water would.Quote:
