1-(364/365*363/365....) >0.5
if we take each 364(365-N(n=1)) 363(365-N(n=2)) 362(365-N(n=3)) as (365-N) and increment it by one each time, N would equal 23 when the equation would go over 1/2

You're in the army.
You are standing at the edge of a gorge which has a rope bridge crossing it. It is pitch black and you only have one light.
You know the bridge is going to be blown up in 17 minutes and you have to get your 3 men and yourself across the bridge within 17 minutes before the bridge blows up.
It takes you 1 minute to cross the bridge.
B takes 2 minutes to get across
C is a bit overweight and takes 5 minutes to get across
D has been injured and takes 10 minutes to get across.
The bridge can only hold the weight of 2 men at any given time. One of you needs to always return with the light as it is impossible to get across the bridge when you can't see. Whoever crosses must always take the time of the slower person as they have to help them.
How do you save everybody?
__________
You and B go first (2 minutes) - 2 minutes elapsed
You run back - add 1 minute = 3 elapsed
C and D go over - 10 minutes = 13 elapsed
B goes back to pick up you - 2 minutes = 15 elapsed
You and B go over again - 2 minutes = 17 elapsed
I take B over (2 minutes)Quote:

Me and B make the final crossing (2 minutes)
Total = 17 minutes and get on the floor for the explosion!

Aww .. 'hole in plot' alert for a wotpp.. did you miss basic training or what ? :p - shinning a light in the pitch black, is like putting a 200ft neon sign on your head in the middle of an otherwise targetless battlefield & will no doubt get you shot , before you have any need to worry about any explosions !Quote:

I'm pretty sure I PMed you 5 questions, but only a couple have been used...
Thinking is not my strong point today, so it's probably a good thing there aren't any questions.
Yeah, about those questions you submitted... they sucked. ;)
I think your expectations of me might be a little too high. :pQuote:

Can you find a five digit number which has no zeros no digit is repeated, where:
The first digit is a prime number.
The second digit is the fifth digit minus the first digit.
The third digit is twice the first digit.
The fourth digit is the third digit plus three.
The fifth digit is the difference between the first digit and the fourth digit.

How is it possible for there to be a perfectly straight line such that its ends are higher than its middle?
___________
A line which has enough length will have ends that are higher than the middle due to the curvature of the earth!
OK, I've heard this one before from a science teacher in school, and I think the answer is lame.Quote:

the earth is round not flat so if you make a straight line horizontal to the ground, the end of the line would keep going higher in the air the longer the line is
The thickness of the line would need to be larger at the ends than the middle. The line would still be straight however.Quote:
