I don't agree with you at all NooNoo. I'll admit that I came into this conversation believing that my point of view was the better one, and that others needed to be "converted" to my point of view.

However, I actually do pay attention to the other person's comments in a debate, and listen with an open mind. I have no pride issues whatsoever about backing down and changing sides if they present a convincing case. I honestly gave some thought to the comments about the Bible being divinely inspired because of the synchronicity of writings. It does seem an interesting fact, and I think it points to something, but I don't think that that something is proof that the Bible is an accurate picture of God's word and will.

So in this case, I don't like the logic behind the other side's reasoning, and will admit I am very troubled by the "feel" of the other side's position as well. It does indeed smack of hatemongering. So I have made my best attempts to explain what I think is wrong with the other side's position. Now, the other side continues to disagree with me. That's their prerogative. How have I imposed my will on them, if they still disagree with me? How have I imposed my will on them if I back off from the argument, and they still have their point of view?

I for one do NOT feel that you have attempted to impose your view on me, Clammy. This has been a lively and spirited debate, if not marginally educational. And for the most part we have kept all our blows about the belt. I think you present your perspectives on this issue very well and ask poiniant questions about the opposing view. They have reminded me once again of my own inadequacy when debating these issues. It is never my intention in these discussions to reason or persuade someone to a Christian perspective. That is a decision that a person can only make for themselves.

While I certainly believe that the preponderance of evidence lies with the Biblical interpretation, I also believe that all points of view have a place at the table and would never close out my mind to other perspectives. The only way for the truth to be revealed is with a free open exchange of ideas without malice or stigma. For the Canadian government to label the Bible's stance on homosexuality as "hate speech" is both unfair and unjust.

Moreover, I think that I, too, have said my peace on this issue and can accept the fact that others may disagree.

Just making the point that when people talk about homosexuality being wrong/evil/disgusting they will usually use the example of 2 men living together. Do the opinions sway at all if it's 2 cute blondes?(women I mean)

And there is another little statement that should show up the duality of thinking that goes on.

The bible was written at a time when women were property, monogamy was in the minority and concubines were the norm. In some religiions lesbians were treated as heros, warrior maids and all that.
