King Tut died 120 years after King Eros was born.

Their combined ages when they died was 100 years. King Eros died in the year 40 B.C.

In what year was King Tut born?

King Tut was born in 20 B.C. There were 120 years between the birth of King Eros and the death of King Tut, but since their ages amounted to only 100 years, there must have been 20 years when neither existed. This would be the period between the death of King Eros, 40 B.C., and the birth of King Tut, 20 B.C.

The trip will take longer than 40 minutes.
The canoe will travel two kph slower upstream, but will travel two kph faster downstream. However, the trip will take longer than 40 minutes because the canoe will be slowed down for a longer period of time going upstream than the time it gains going downstream.

It will be longer...because going upstream will take longer, and slow the trip down consierably, regardless of the down stream time made up...

It would take the same amount of time. The longer time to paddle upstream is offset by the quicker time to move downstream.

When Ben crossed the finish line, Carl was only at the 90 metre mark. Ben suggested they run another race. This time, Ben would start ten metres behind the starting line.

All other things being equal, will Carl win, lose, or will it be a tie in the second race?

Carl will lose again.
In the second race, Ben started ten metres back. By the time Carl reaches the 90 metre mark, Ben will have caught up to him. Therefore, the final ten metres will belong to the faster of the two. Since Ben is faster than Carl, he will win the final 10 metres and of course the race.

Ben will win again. The race is essentially the same. Because of the handicap Ben will be ten metters behind where he was in the first race while Carl will be running at the same speed. Therefore at the ninety meter mark they will be tied and then Ben will beat Carl to the finish line.

I'm giving 3 to Ya_K, but 1 to Mindwarp also because her explanation is much more complete.

The coast guard ship pulled over next to the drifting boat from which Sid Shady was frantically waving.

The sun was beating down as a hot and perspiring Shady jumped aboard the coast guard ship and began begging for water. After several glasses, Shady recounted the last several days.

"Lance and I were out fishing six days ago when both our engine and radio broke down. We've been drifting out here ever since. Three days ago we ran out of water. Lance started to drink the sea water and went crazy. While going below deck, he fell down the ladder, hit his head and killed himself."

Shadow examined Lance's body and confirmed that he had indeed died from a blow to the head. Shadow turned to Shady and said, "Based on your account I believe Lance was murdered."

Why?

Shady said they had run out of water three days ago. If that was the case, Shady would have been dehydrated and would not have been perspiring when he jumped aboard the coast guard ship.
