How about it?
The solved icon only shows up once you have seen and recorded the solution. In the mean time, three or four people can rack up two pages of posts easy. Fewer at once just makes things a bit more organized.Quote:

A woman has 5 bags of candy to give to her nieces.
4 of the bags have a total of 84 candies.
The 5th contains 4 candies less than the average of the 5 bags, as she's been dipping into it all afternoon.
How many candies are in the 5th bag?
__________
16. Since 4 bags average 21 candies, we know that the 5th has at least 4 less. Finding the average of all 5 bags based on that knowledge comes to 101, but the answer only works if we have a grand total of 100 candies for all bags. The average of that comes to 20, and 4 less than that is 16.

After the old man has passed away, the sons gather near the camel pen but discover to their dismay that there are 17 camels.
They do not want to sell or kill any of the animals, and they could not think of a way to divide the camels exactly as their father had wished.
Just then a friend of the family arrived on camelback to pay his respects to the family. He listened to their problem and immediately devised a way to divide the camels just as the old man had wished.
What was his easy solution?
__________
By adding his own camel to the lot, the divisions became possible. The eldest received 9 camels, the second son 6 and the youngest 2. The friend then took back his own camel, as the total camels inherited comes to 17 - the original number.
It would vary from one person to the next anyhow, so it doesn't matter. ;)Quote:
