Just a guess. Maybe, he suggested making her finger cold somehow (ice, freezer) to constrict the blood vessels in the finger, making it shrink and allowing the washer to come off more easily.

Sam Slug and Sid Shady were trying to snitch a few oranges from an orange grove but found them to be out of reach.

Since Slug stands six feet and Shady stands five feet, Slug invited Shady to stand on his shoulders in order to reach the fruit. Shady climbed up on Slug's shoulders, but even then the fruit was just beyond Shady's grasp.

Would it make any difference in reach if Slug was to stand on Shady's shoulders?

A large motor home pulled out to pass and crashed head-on into an oncoming truck.

The driver of the truck was found dead. The driver of the motor home, 'Skids' Road, and one of the two passengers Saul Long, were also killed. Only Sid Shady was unharmed.

When questioned by police, Shady recounted what happened. "Saul and I were in the back having a few beers and playing a little poker when he stood up to get another beer. Next thing I knew there was a crash and we went flying. Saul was thrown back against the rear door and he must have killed himself when he hit the back of his head on the rear door handle. The only reason I survived," said Shady, "was because I was lucky enough to have been sitting when the collision occurred."

Shadow immediately brought Shady in on suspicion of murder. Why?

Shady said that on impact, Saul was thrown back against the rear door. On impact, he would have been thrown forward. Consequently, Shadow became suspicious of the fatal blow to the back of Saul's head.

saul would have to of been facing the back of the rv to be thrown forward and hit a rear door (if it is a door to the room and not the door to the outside) if it was a door to the outside there is no possible way for saul to have hit the back of his head in a crash.
