Official WD City of Heroes Thread

Inept and I were talking CoH over a meal yesterday, and we had an idea we wanted to share with WinDrivers in case anyone here was interested.




On another server (not Protector) we wanted to launch a character each based on a "dress suit" concept. The eventual supergroup would be comprised of characters which correspond to the following criteria:

• Costume must be a suit, preferably coloured in earth tones, ideally black. Think "Hitman" and you've got a pretty good idea what the look should be. Faces should be relatively natural.
• Character must be between 7 and 8 feet tall.
• Archetypes are left to the player's imagination, although the theme would be better suited for natural, science and tech. Blaster would be advised to take Devices as a secondary power set.

That's pretty much it, really. :p



I know inept was considering an Assault Rifle/Devices toon, while I was thinking Energy/Dev blaster, maybe a controller, or perhaps even an AR/Dev also.

Anyone interested and/or have a server recommendation?


BTW, I tried my wifes character on the Test Server and some guy gave me 50,000 influence just for being at the dance party. Said he had over a million influence. Very useful on a TEST server. :rolleyes:

That test server is pretty cool, but mighty buggy still. I would only go to test server to hang out and chat probably. I just feel like I wouldn't want to hassle with defeating villains there because it would be a waste of energy (unless I could copy all the xp I earn back over to protector).

Also,.. I spent about an hour running through the cape quest with Raining Blood. What a waste of time that was. The cape is cool,.. but it's nowhere near worth the amount of drama I had to go through in order to get it. I don't see why capes aren't just part of the costume at the beginning of the game.

As far as the hitman idea goes,.. that sounds cool. I actually already have a char like that on protector. His name is "Freddy Freezer". He is an Ice blaster. Perhaps I could recreate him if you guys want to go on another server. Also,.. this might not be an original idea as yesterday I saw a group of thugs dressed exactly as you described. I felt like maybe they saw my Freddy Freezer character and ripped me off. Well,.. it's not like my gangster idea was so original anyway. :p

I actually had an idea that popped in my head the other day. I was thinking it might be cool to create a "Charlies Angels" SG. 3 of us could be the angels and the other could be Bosley and maybe even a fifth could be Charlie. It would be a cheesy fun SG type thing to do. Even if just for a few hours.

I also have another char I created this weekend called "Killer Bride". Got her up to lvl 9 already. She is a carbon copy of Uma Thurman in the Kill Bill movies. Complete with Kitana sword. Been getting lots of compliments from people on her.

Tips I learned over the weekend regarding malicious users:
There seems to be a new trend of malicious activity happening at CoH so you have to kinda watch ur back now and be careful. Here's what I've learned...

- I started Killer Bride toon. I'm in Outbreak trying to defeat 4 thugs so I can advance a little further. This blaster named Crazy Blasts must've had me targeted because every time I hit a villain, his blast would kill them before I got any credit for it. I asked him to stop, cursed him out, reported him,.. but nothing helped. The only reason I was able to advance is because I went afk for awhile and I guess he gave up.

- There are malicious users who will rez you, then teleport you to a place that you can't get out of.

- There are malicious users who will form a team with you, get you out to the battle,.. then leave right in the middle of a battle by TPing away and then quitting team. This way you're almost sure to get killed.

That's what I use the BROADCAST channel for - letting everyone know the name of the character who's behaviour warrants it. :mad:

Does reporting actually work?

too bad you can't kick their asses tho...what kind of fun is that anyways?

I'm sticking with my high level guys for now, no more newbies. I'm sick og the lower levels and want to see what other adventures are to be had there. So, I'm a no on the suit guys... Sorry. :sad:


BTW - I'm on late tonight night then again on Thursday night all night. Friday is a maybe.

I failed to complete that mission with Stalemate... Too many mobs in that last room for a tanker without Provoke or Taunt to keep them all close by while Endurance slowly reaches a level where attacks can be used. https://forums.windrivers.com/images.../2005/03/1.gif

We figured the "mafia" look was nothing new, but at least different enough from the now traditional spandex tights look to make the group stand out when strolling by.

Freedy Freezer sounds cool - no pun intended. Any recommendations for which server we could get started with this?

BTW, I am willfully and voluntarily keeping any comments about your Charlie's Angels SG to myself so that our friendship can be preserved. :D

Well, my SG appears to be becoming defunct. So it appears that Buzz may be a free agent. :D

Well I told the guy I reported him. He then told me that he would "veto" it. Then I got an email from Tech Support. It said they would monitor his behavior but thats about it.

Broadcasting would be cool,.. but then he might start drama back and I don't want to take teh chance of losing a character I worked so hard to build up. It just seems like a losing situation no matter what you do. If they want to F with you, they can and they can get away with it very easily. It's pretty sad that it's like that.

Really,.. thats the main thing. Once you lvl up high enough, you can't ge Fed with as easily. You don't see this sort of thing in Talos and IP. It's mainly in PP where most of the childish immature crap happens. Yeah,.. I think I'm just going to stick with Raining Blood from now on. I never have any trouble with him.

I think I'm just going to stick with RB anyway. Like ILTU said,.. I'd really like to see whats going on beyond lvl 25 so I'm going to put my collection of COH action dolls on hold for the time being and just stick with my high lvl action doll. I'll like to get to lvl 30 before the year is over. :p

The new patch will have it so you have to confirm that you wish to be rezzed, or teleported. Stops that BS real quick. :thumbs:

My wife is on this evening, so if you want to team up with her she's quite anxious to get past level 14.

I'll hook you up with POW as soon as I can get my hands on the game, which should be Wednesday and Thursday, from the look of things.


Each WD member should have one toon as a lieutenant in that group. Do you want to keep Aumakua as LT or use Dynamo instead?

I'll be on tomorrow (Wed) night with RB. We should all do a TF tomorrow.

I'm in for the TF with Stalemate (Lvl 20) or then with Fracas (Lvl 8 blaster) soloing/duo teaming.


It would have to start rather early for me though - like before 9 for sure.

My wife was quite happy to have finally reached level 15 yesterday, but I think she's starting to see the benefit of doing TFs now, after spending hours trying painfully to climb up a level. :P

I'll be on after 8pm or so EST. I'm up for a TF but RB is too high for synapse.

We could try the Sister Psyche T http://www.rpgexpert.com/2499.html as it's lvl 20-26. I doubt we'd finish but the XP would be great. If we had Stale, Aum and RB we'd have the core of a tem and we could build on it in Indep. Port.


Who doesn't have a lvl 20 character that might want to go?

I think inept's Major Blaze should be pretty close (19?) if he's interested.


Webby, what level is Raining Blood now?


I'm just trying to figure out what to expect in the way of mobs spawned and whether or not I'll be able to hit them. :p


I'm in for the TF, and don't mind one bit of we don't finish it.

Yes,.. Sister Psyche is the one I did and it's awesome! Battle freakshows. We should do that one. I'll be on at 6pm pst with Raining Blood (who is lvl 25 btw Adept). We'll fly through that mission because I can snipe the bosses and take em out with just a few well placed shots. Or I can SK Stalemate so he can take on the bosses and I can wipe out the rest of them while Aum holds them all still and bubble wraps the team. I'm very confident that the 3 of us can fly right through this TF. And with only 3 of us, the xp will be amazing. And even if we don't finish it,.. then it's all good. We'll get great xp from it.

So lets start at 6pm pst (9pm est) sharp and just run this thing through. Whoever wants in, be there at that time.

Btw,.. I'm really anxious to lvl up because there's a slight chance I might be able to get Nova once I hit lvl 26. Then I'll be unstoppable. :)

And btw,.. like ILTU said, Aum, Stale and RB would be kinda like a good solid start to the TF team. If anyone else is interested,.. even to just play for a couple hours or even an hour or something,.. it would be great. We could just go at it with the expectation that we won't finish it,.. just there to collect lots of xp.

If Aumakua is sufficiently high enough to hit and not be one-shot at any time, then the XP would be a-ma-zing.

Another blaster like Buzzerbeater might be advisable otherwise, if he's available.

What level is Diverrr now?

Aum is lvl 20 and when I try to control the baddies 5 levels higher than me I can't hit so well or control for more than a few seconds sometimes depending on the bad guys, FYI. I'll give it a whirl though and the bubbles should help.

A healer will be crucial against the freakshows.

Also, I'm not on until almost 9 now and if the TF goes past 1am my time I have to drop (gotta get up 6am from now on). We can get through a good chunk of it though.

Stalemate, Major Blaze (get to 20 pronto, bro! :p) and/or Aumakua should probably get SKed to be effective in this TF. Please keep in mind that I have no official provoke or taunt except one attack which can sometimes attract.

A healer would definitely be a good thing to have if damage is expected. I've never encountered freaks before so I can't tell.

1AM would be a good max limit for me also.
