interest rates are going up (effects new home owner's and people that are refinancing their mortgage that havent locked in on an interest rate)
gas prices are up (if you can find any at all)

Although this violent act of terrorism with blatant disregard for human life must be dealt with - and dealt with severely, it serves no purpose to start pointing fingers toward a particular ethnic group or belief system.
Bush's speech tonight did not leave any doubt that any country aiding the perpetrators will be fair game for reprisals.
My deepest sympathies to all who had relatives and friends wounded or lost in this horrible ordeal.
The entire world must now contend with the possibility of terrorism in our own backyards...

I apologize for my harsh comments to Texas Joe back on page 8 of this thread. I just find it hard to believe that he has any real patriotism. I spent six years in the Navy and have been around the world a couple of different times and have seen a lot things. I know the U.S. is not liked in a good chunk of the world but asking us to "look at ourselves" is just idiotic.
Anyway, I am a grown man and I should know better than to let my emotions get the best of me. Needless to say, this has not been a good day...in a lot of ways.

Don't worry, the evacuation of those towers in Malaysia was just a drill to see how fast they could empty those buildings in case something similar happens to them just like has happened here. The whole world is on alert, they fear the same thing is going to happen to them.Quote:

Today is a sad day in the U.S. I have listened to it on the radio and tv at work all day today. It was a quiet day as well where I was, probably because the horrific situation. Was the rest of the U.S. at a standstill where everyone else worked???
Anyways, my heart goes out to the people who were in any way related to this tragedy.
I think they should definitely kick some butt against those responsible, but rescue efforts should be top priority 1st.
There may be some good news in all of this, news reports say there are still some people alive under the twin towers rubble and debris. They have confirmed this because those under there have used their cell phones to contact loved ones to get help. Amazing they are able to get through with all the phone line congestion. Chances that some of those missing 200 firefighters or 85 police officers may be alive under there as well. Reporters showed night pictures of the smoldering twin tower rubble, not a pretty scene at all. https://forums.windrivers.com/
This was definitely a well calculated and planned tactic by whomever was responsible. This just goes to show that wherever we are, there is no 100% safe place. This is a wakeup call for the democratic coutries to take note. We are vulnerable. The airports in Canada have closed down as well for now, thank goodness they accepted all those airliners as well as Mexico.
The Saskatoon Airport took in some planes as well and in Regina as well. I can assure our fellow Americans that those who are stranded here will definitley be welcome with Saskatchewan hospitality and we'll help in any way possible just like the other province, coutries, states and so on. There are blood giving centers open to take donations here to help in the rescue efforts.
I hope that there will be some light at the end of this dark tunnel.
