You won't find very much performance difference between any of the GeForce 2 cards at all. The way it works is, NVIDIA sends the manufacturers their reference design, and the company (i.e. ASUS, MSI, etc.) will usualy follow this design to about 90% similarity (maybe die their PCB red or blue). This results in practically identical cards, performance wise. The only way you can account for a difference in prices comes with the package they send it with.
Example
- The popular ASUS 7700 Deluxe
Comes with 3D glasses,
TV IN/OUT
Composite IN/OUT
DVD Software
And a few full version games (Soldier of Fortune maybe?)- The MSi Starforce 815,
Basically the same card (same reference design)
Comes with TV out, and nothing extra.
The only thing that you can really pay extra for is the package that comes with the card, and the name on the outside of the box. The manufacturers drivers don't even matter, because the NVIDIA reference drivers are always better.
Also, the difference between cards can't really be noticed unless you are playing games at resolutions above 1024X768. What I'd probably suggest, or what I'm actually going to do, is get the card that is the best deal, and not worry about the make of it.
I have 3 geforce cards... a Guillemot 3D Prophet SDR 256, Elsa Gladiac GF2 MX 32meg, and a Asus V7700 GF2 Gts 32meg DDR, all work great. I am running them on P3 machines 600Mhz, 800Mhz and a 933Mhz. I think your gonna be fine with any card you choose, but i would stay away from Geforce 2 Mx "200" series. If your gonna buy a GF2 MX card make sure it is a 400 series card. I have never heard of a manufacturer that made a Geforce video card and it sucked compared to the rest of the crowd. IF you wanna pay for the name...well..pay for the name...otherwise get the best bang for the buck because 3-6months later...there WILL be a better one <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">
I have a Leadtek winfast geforce2 PRO 64MB ddr ram. I chose this card because I had to test and bench this cards with all the other cards. And will this card beat the other in the same class out of the water. The price was good, and I get great fsp with this card quake 3. In demo demo001 at 600x480 at 16bit, I got 175fsp and got done with the map in 8 secs. Now this is with only the video card, modem, and sound card. (only extra cards) Another reason I got this card is because if you look online at reviews this card was #1 in its class.
Hercules GTS II Pro 64MB.
Nearly the performance of the Ultra, but the price is much closer to the standard GTS II.
It kicks the Llama's *** !

My only complaint with ASUS is that they use the cheapest damned Fans they can get their hands on.
Guaranteed to fail.
Every ASUS product I've owned (a lot), including MB's and Video Cards has had the fan fail.
The current problem is an A7V133 MB chipset fan. It's about to fly off the heat-sink from all the vibration.
The A7V133 has had more fan failures than anything I've ever seen.

None, go for the ATI Radeon 64Mb DDR Vivo.
Most Excellent card and the price rocks too.
Have seen OEM for £133
i have a ati readeon 32mb ddr and never had a problem with it. i don't think you going to notice a real difference on your 64mb video card no matter wich one u choose.
I just recently got a Elsa Gladiac 511 MX400 64Mb. It performs very very well and I haven't had any problems with it yet. For the money I'm very satisfied.
I have a WinFast i'm happy with it. High FPS, what more could you want?
The only 64MB GF2 card I have played with was the Asus GTS 64MB and it totally kicked a**. I've also had really good luck with Jaton video cards. I like the 3dForce B-32 TNT card and I am now using the 3DForce2-MX. Good cards
Just about any 64mb DDR card rocks. I like the Radeon for the money.
I'd rather be lucky than good.
What ASUS card is good? which one is the most budget plus card?
hey why do you reckon that ASUS fans are cheap and that they aren't good fans?
WHy not?
Anyone object to this or support this? Is it true that ASUS fans are poor??
And byther way... is it worth it getting a good digital flat screen monitor?? or should i just get a cheap monitor?
DOes it really make a big difference?
Well, I say AMD all the way, they are faster than the intels and they are alot cheaper. Only downside is that you need more cooling. I have a 1.1ghz with an FIC AZ11 board and its great
As for a video card I am using a Powercolor GeForce 2 GTS PRO 64mb DDR. It scores a tiny bit below 7000 on the 3d mark benchmark and it has tv-out and I got it for $166 with rush shipping at www.pricewatch.com
I am very happy with it.
