I have been doing this for several years. My friend's dad (a tech) showed me how to do it originally, then I forgot, and I actually found out how to do it again from a different post on WinDrivers awhile back.
It's great because I often access the control panel!
Yeah that 95 trick has been around for a while. It's great though. It's always been too slow to load on my PC though. It takes about 20 seconds to load all of the icons or something, I find it funny to watch my 233 struggle like that.

Can you do this with Network Neighborhood?
Wow, to think MS would actually program something like that and have the possibility of expecting many people to know about it. In any event kick @$$ little trick. I like it.
I saw that a good while ago too. I found it on one of my Tech net cds. I thought it to be really cool too.
Thats funny because I just posted a thread in Tech to Tech asking how to restore the control panel after a policy had been instated. I got flamed by a bunch of the guys because they thought I was going behind the Network Admins back or something. I couldn't believe how defensive they got about it. Anyways, had I known this it would of been a lot easier than the registry hack that I did. <IMG SRC="smilies/tongue.gif" border="0">

When you create a DUN folder for your START button this way in Win98SE, the entire string shows up on the start button. IOW, when you click Start, you'll see
DUN.{992CFFA0-F557-101A-88EC-00DD010CCC48}DUN.{992CFFA0-F557-101A-88EC-00DD010CCC48}. It will also be empty because you manually have to copy your *.DUN files to the folder.
The way I created a DUN for the the Start button is just create a new folder as outlined above, but just name it "DUN" (without the quotes OR the alpha-numeric string that followed in the above example).
Then open My Computer/Dial-Up Networking then drag-n-drop (copy) your *.DUN files to the folder you just created, otherwise the new folder will be blank. This one is definately worth doing if you use more than 1 dial-up connection.
