Suuuuuuure we'll hire you

LOL! We had a lady drop by the shop one day and ask if we would give her a job. She did not ask if we were hiring. She said she was changing careers and was going to the local community college for networking or something of relation. She had no experience, nada zip...heck she owned an eMachine. She wanted us to teach her. So in the middle of doing five things at once my boss man politely took her aside and told her we have no room for her. She was rather upset about it :P Yea I want to know she is working my front counter! DUH!

Sounds like a slacker. It's good that you didn't probe further into his world.

Umm, made me feel kinda like a total idiot, but I did the same thing before. I will never do that again, but now that I do have the experience I won't feel so much like an idiot anymore when I do give some company my resume...Soooo, I couldn't laugh about this because I did it once *snicker*

Hmm, at least you learned. I've had to help her since then and she has not learned much. Oh well such is life.

Well we had a guy come in the shop asking if we were hiring for a pc tech. he was at least honest and told us he didn't know anything about computers,but wanted us to teach him <IMG SRC="smilies/eek.gif" border="0">
Well we weren't hiring, so thats what we told him. You know when I first started working on computers, my first job gave me that opportunity. I had NO experience,but i did have my A+, so I can say that did get me in the door.

This all reminds me of the time I was a Production Manager for a small screen printing shop. I lived in a small redneck town and we had a real problem with retaining employees. We were hiring and I had a long list of resumes and I had already sorted them into the "File" and the "Interview" So I bring this lady in, she comes in dragging two kids to the interview. Both under the age of 3 constantly fiddling with stuff in the room and repedatly pulling stuff onto the floor. Half way through the interview her cell phone rings and it is her "other" kid screaming about what the baby sitter did. She told me about her time in jail and her boyfriend the interstate truck driver that left her with all these kids to take care of. I swear I was waiting for someone to jump out and say I was on cadid camera

UN-fortunately we all have to run into this type of guy. Theres a guy here that works close by me that had 6 PCs he had just bought and couldnt get em to work. After changing everything out in em a couple of times he realizes he has the clear CMOS jumper set to clear on all of em! Took him two weeks to get it!

I guess we should be thankfull these guys are around though. When you think about it they make all the rest of us look that much better. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

I had to teach a bachelor's degree person here, degree in computers, how to create a shortcut to the desktop. Sad thing is, they got 'downgraded' to Systems Administrator from Programmer Analyst, so now they make the same money as me, work 10% of my workload, and i do 5% of theirs. This world sucks sometimes.

At least you haven't had to deal with a paranoid programmer turned Net Tech. The poor bastard spent hours to do a simple repair test that should have taken 15mins tops.

All he had to do was either remove a stick of memory (To avoid deductions for asking questions.) or go over to the teachers desk and find the missing stick the teacher removed. (BTW we're allowed in the desk. <IMG SRC="smilies/wink.gif" border="0"> )

Me and a couple of the others who had already done the test decided to have mercy on the poor bastard and gave him some hints, like how many sticks are required to run the machine or our personal fav its only 2pt deduction if you ask the teacher. The test was out of 50 and only 10% of total course..( 1min and done the entire test, teach tried to hoop me by removing command.com. Sys from my tech disk, and smooth sailing.)

4Hrs later he finished, resolved all sorts of problems. But still hadn't fixed the memory problem. The bastard got past on appeal, as the teacher hadn't been explicited in his instructions. (He was the only one with a problem, the least knowledgable of us did it in under 30mins.)
