Dude, you don't like Christmas much, do you? Well, let me explain how I view it....it's a time for people of any religion (my father's side of the family is Jewish) or no religion (like me) to be reminded of some of the things we forget about the rest of the year....like how special it is to see our families, or how important it is to be kind to our fellow man. Certainly we should hold these feelings within us the entire year, but it's just a good thing to have one special day set aside for everyone to be reminded of it. Right near the end of the year, when everyone's getting tired, and the year seems so long, here comes this one day where you can smile at anyone and wish them happieness, and not feel awkward about it for one reason or another. At time when families who are together celebrate that togetherness, and families who are apart make an extra special effort to be together. With all the hate and violence in the world, holidays like Ramadan (sp?), Christmas, and Haunakah(sp?) are and should be very special times when we can step away from that.
Of course, I do agree that commercialization of the holidays should be banned, and ad executives who insist on doing it should be shot, hung, stabbed, stretched, stoned, burned at the stake, drawn, and quartered.
Dammit NPaladin, then you resuscitate so you can do it again.
