Hey it is no sweat....I have been sraced inot believeing that flashing the bois is one of the things you do last. Now I usually flash first and that solves mojority of the problems

Coding is easy; All you do is sit staring at a terminal until the drops of blood form on your forehead.
Real Programmers don't eat quiche. They eat Twinkies and Szechwan food.
Count me in - Flash-a-holic all the way! https://forums.windrivers.com/

I have flashed BIOS's countless times without incident. With the rolling power outages we are having in CA, it is now a crap shoot. I have recently installed a couple of huge UPS's for the service benches.

It's a dog eat dog world out there, and there isn't enough dog to go around. So get as much dog as you can, before all the dogs gone.
I have also flashed many without problems. We've put UPS's on our benches for almost the same reason, except we get those stupid 2 second outages about three times a week. Now we just keep working.Quote:

I have never had a problem. Lucky I guess. I just flashed one this weekend, went great, even though it was a gateway !
i used to not realy like flashing the bois but here at work i have a fool for a boss and he wants all our bois falshed to the must resent bois. i only lost one so far but i still think it is stupid to flash if its not needed
Yip. Ditto. But when i do flash...I cuss and threaten the box like I was held up at a stop light, cursing it to turn green. :cool:Quote:

haven't lost one yet, though I don't do it often.
I've been flashing BIOS for quite a while and the only one i lost was my personnal 'puter... pretty sad thing...
But i don't care less about flashing, i'm a tech and it's my job to flash the BIOS regularily..., alright i have some 30 spare computers... so i don't need worry about replacement...
I think I have gotten over it. The more flashes I do the easyer it gets.
I've never prayed, but kinda relieved when you get the "Flashing Successful" message.
Flashed hundreds of them and never worried until one time I was flashing off a floppy disk and right in the middle I got "Error reading drive a:" operation aborted. So much for that motherboard. Now I never run it off the floppy disk and I always prey it comes back up. Especially if its a pcchips board.
heheh, i can relateQuote:

15 years of flashing bios's?
Are you sure about that?
Personally been doing it about eight years?
(Ruslan: little help on the actual numberof years/ and it's good to see you again since it seems like it's been awhile, and I will check your link-thanks)
Here in Florida on an island in the Gulf the power is very unreliable to say the least. So=UPS and forget the worry.
Never have had one take a crap thank God.
:drink:
Oh, just noticed that this is an old thread.
Geez, who brought it back?
And I'm here talking to Ruslan like he's listening
Must be those Aardvarks. ;)
