[RESOLVED] Best Techie Prank

https://forums.windrivers.com/ I used the PcAnywhere trick myself. Most of the people here only know what I've told them, so one day this one guy was giving me some grief so I started pcAnywhere. All I did was wait until he would try to click somewhere and I'd move the mouse away, then he'd try to type something and I'd delete it, or move to another field, or re-type the character he typed. It was only a couple of minutes until my phone rang... "Uh, my computer is doing some really strange things" I told him to re-boot and presto, the problem was solved!!! https://forums.windrivers.com/

One of my techs went away for the weekend and we decided to play with him.
In the autoexec.bat file 200 lines down we put in killcmos.
When he booted the machine on Monday morning, it got to starting windows and then said that no fixed disk present. He couldn't figure it out and opened the case until we finally told him to boot safe mode command prompt and rem out the line. He was EXTREMELY PISSED FOR A FEW DAYS!!!

Simple but effective.

1- Remove someone's Mouse Ball, and scotch tape over the spinning rods inside.

2- tape down the reciever of someone's phone and listen to them say 'hello' over and over again.

3- Put clear tape over the mouthpeice of someone's phone, and listen to them get louder and louder as the other party insists they cannot hear them.

4- Unplug the handset cord from the bottom of someons phone. When they answer a call.... Hello? Hello?

Oh and dont forget this one if you work in a cubicle:

Chances are their phone or lan connection is in your area. If so, randomly unplug thier lan cable and their phone cable.
Besides restoring the default volume of thier phone (which is usually deafening)
in many cases it will cause them to have to reboot their computer to restore their network connections for their PC.

you can do that to a 9x box witht netbus.

for NT, get shutdown.exe from the NTResKit and walk past somebody's machine, make sure they aren't doing something too important, then send the remote command to shutdown their workstation - hehehe!!!

I haven't done anything really bad, but I have used the pcAnywhere trick, and I have disabled stuff using poledit, changing attributes to INI files to H and S so users could not change settings, stuff like that.

I once read in 2600 that the thermastats in places like Wal-Mart or some of the other big department stores were controlled by computer dialing into them. Each thermastat had a 4 digit number on it and that was the phone number ex: 456-345-#### where #### would be the 4 digit number. When you dialed in using hyperterminal, you would have to logon and then you got a menu system. The guys @ 2600 cracked the logon/password and were calling up stores in the winter and cranking out COLD air or calling up in the summer and cranking out HOT air all day long.
I thought that it was funny.

This really isn't a prank, but the other day, I got a program to flash the bios and change that little energy star logo in the corner. One of my co-workers now has an "Idiot Outside" logo on startup, just have to figure out how to make it full screen.

What utility was that? Does it work for all BIOS's or just one brand?

I like opening a dos box, Changing to the desktop directory and creating a folder with an ascii character like <Alt>+201 then typing something like "<Insert Name Here>'s momma is so fat...." etc.

'Coz windows is so dumb it just comes up with 'Cannot find' and 'Moved or removed' every time the user tries to access/delete it. HA! Sit for hours trying to work out what number combo that one is!

Another one I like is copying the [TTFontDimenCache] section in the system.ini and pasting it about 40 times.

I've only used in on Asus p5a boards, but it should work with any award bios board. The website for the program is http://www.flazh.de/ and has instructions on how to use it, the only bad thing is you have to download a bios update for any board you plan on using. Also if you don't register it it has a little thing at the bottom of the picture saying "unregisted".
