It's really a shame to see you go Darren, although I must admit, I have been seriously considering doing the same myself. The boards are just not what they used to be. It's hard to post anything anymore without being flamed off the boards by all these new users with 1 or 2 posts!

Thats f'ing aweful, man! Loser little prepubescent bitches! Darren, your insights and good humor will be missed. You've saved my but and friends of mine and provided answers to questions I didn't know I had! And I hope all those flamers suffer a forced bukakae session upon them and their loved ones. grrrr...
You will be missed!

Sorry to see you leave, you were always a great help. I to have gotten a little annoyed but I hope those remaining can help to fix what is broken.
Good Luck and check back periodically we might just succeed.

I agree with everyone else. When I became a registered user, I thought this was better than sliced bread. Recently I have been noticing a somewhat down fall as i read the constant flaming of one's ability to pilot a computer. We all had to start somewhere. We all did not know how to work on computers. Some of the younger Techs do not know how to navigate DOS because they never had to. With the advent of newer operating systems and newer GUI's, not every can learn DOS, UNIX, O/S 2, etc... so why bash some one if they don't know how to run commands.....yet. People just need to understand and sit there humbly whenever some one does not know how to use their PC, or when a Tech does not have all of the answers. I have seen the posts that Darren has left and it saddens me to see someone with that much knowledge get "fed up" with all of the mudslinging. I hope this post enlightens some people.

I'm a newbie to this site...but Darren, you've given me a lot of great information to absorb just by scanning your replies. Although I understand your reasoning, and must admit I'd leave in a minute, too, if I'd gotten some of that crap sent my way...may I suggest a "super-hero alter-ego." You can wear a mask and a cape, I'll buy! No one need know your new identity! And to all you "veterans" out there, here's one more vote of sincere apppreciation. Although many possess good technical skills, you all do it with panache, politeness and humor. Maybe the registration-required policy will do the trick. For future reference, what about a strict "ignore policy" directed towards tactless boobs?!

Very sorry to see you leaving Darren , your knowledge and advice have been much appreciated as you can see from the preceeding posts......I like the mask and cape idea , I'm willing to chip in if it'll keep you around ! Good Luck

Sorry to see you go Darren. You and many others have been a god send to me and your posts have helped me in more ways than you will ever know. Good luck with everything you do

I first read your post 4 hours ago. I have since been trying to think of something to say that would convince you to stay. The best I came up with is Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease don't let the jerks of the world run you off. You would be sorely missed. If not, maybe tomorrow we will have an extremly knowledgeable new member named DW.

It's a sad day when the real and good techs are driven out by a bunch of rude teenagers https://forums.windrivers.com/

Wow, I knew things were getting strange on these boards but, to make a vet. like Darren leave? And the e-mails? I guess I am glad that I am a middle of the road tech cause I have only gotten 1 nasty e-mail and I could hardly understand it. (had to paste it to word and run spell check). I have gotten alot of good emails though and I have never felt uncomfortable with leaving my address public.
On a more personal note, I have sometimes not agreed with things that Darren had posted but everything he posted had a reason and something to back it up and I respect that more than anything. Darren, do what you think you have to do but know that your advice will be missed!!

I am very sorry to hear that you are leaving us, Darren. I also agree that the forums have been going downhill to the point of leaving too. You have been instrumental in making this a great place. If all the good people start leaving, then the morons will have won by taking over the forums. I don't blame you for leaving, but hope you might reconsider. Good luck, you will be missed.

It's a dog eat dog world out there, and there isn't enough dog to go around. So get as much dog as you can, before all the dogs gone.

Flames have been increasing at every tech website like maximumpc.com, win98central.com and many others. People just don't show any respect anymore. Darren you are legend here!!! https://forums.windrivers.com/ Hopefully, we'll hear from you once in a while. Good Luck with your career and other website!!!

Thank you for sharing your knowledge, Darren.

I would have to agree about the forums taking a turn for the worst lately. Sorry to see you go Darren - you are one of the originals, and a damn good Tech. You know most of us don't wanna see you go...
