I would go IDE - The main advantage to scsi is in large sustained drive access and multiple user access, as a single user you do not have that problem and even with the current video recording software - the compression is good enough that you should not notice a difference.
I gotta agree with cyberhh here, I doubt you have need for the SCSI drives.....you can get over 8X the storage for the same price, might as well do it....
Creeping, do you still need that coax wire I made up for you??....if not, I'm doing a camera job next week and I'll just use it there!!

SCSI CPU usage is much lower than UDMA.
SCSI can handle multiple I/O requests.
SCSI is much more reliable
SCSI HDDs (especially 10K and 15K rpm) have almost half the access time - MAJOR Imporvement !!!!
As a rule I'd say it depends on your System:
if you're using a regular "desktop" work go with the UDMA solution..
but If you're a power user, do a lot of multitasking, use Audio/Video editing / have a database / do 3d or 2d dsesign and animation - SCSI is the Obvious choice.

I'm retracting my comment for one reason. I just returned from an all day training class. After talking to one of the guys there, this is a pretty difficult choice. Here's what he had to say:

Again, It really dependss what the computer is used for ...
for example if you your computer to encode Divx or any other task i mentioned before SCSI is the obvious choise.. .
IDE hard drives (yes even 7,200 rpm RAID) are HOME (amature ?)level. for PROFESSIONAL level you go with SCSI. Always.
Why would the speed of divX encoding have anything to do with the speed of a harddrive?
Thats more processor / ram dependant isnt it?
CPU and RAM are the most important - but Disk I/O is important too..
see SCSI doesn't need any CPU time to work ... thus leaving the CPU to deal with the encoding..
My rule on this issue has always been,..."When in doubt, go big" I have found that having more wheather it be ram, proc or HDD, with decent components all around will almost always make up for a slightly less speed. There is no dount that the Cheetah is faster,. but, i find it difficult to turn down 75Gb of storage space, (striping). I would rather have the room and less speed than more speed and less room.

I have two IBM drives and have been very happy with the speed, access time and best of all.. the price! You can't beat ATA100 in a work station environment.
I'd go for more space...Thats just from a MP3oholic though. :)
Get the larger drives - unless you are on a network or need to access huge ammounts of data across multiple scsi drives at the same time (video editing, post production) you should not see a realworld difference.
