I have dsl and with it tweaked, I am getting close to 1mps on a good day never falls below 800k, so nice :D

WARNING: If you get high speed Internet, you will never go back to dial-up.
I'll stick with my T1 :D
Bandwidth that never fails - have had it for two years, with about an hour of downtime over those two years. Only reason for that was cause the shelf that holds our router and CSU/DSU fell off the wall. OUCH!!!

you must be damned clos to a switching station. I average that speed on my cable, yet the DSL users in the area can't even get 1.5Mbps. had a friend of mine cussing at me when he saw my download speed.Quote:

DSL rocks over cable all day!!! 2.8 Mbps straight to the desktop. It will be ever more once I get the cap removed.
I gotta admit they have great service here in Santa Barbara,CA. But elswhere it's not the same story. the truth is you take chances with either one, but even still it's a heckuva lot better than a 56k connection.
one thing I REALLY liked was that they had a guaranteed 2 hour service call policy here AND they arrived within the first 15 minutes. As opossed to the 4 hour service time and arriving at ( literally) the last minute. And they actually sent I guy who knew his sh*t, as opposed to the wiring guy who needed a cheat sheet and who I eventually had to relieve from the keyboard because he hadn't a clue as to how to set up the network settings. I'll not have a novice computer user mucking up my system, with my knowledge and expertise I can muck it up better than anyone and may I add it is an extremely professional mucking up.
I was bugging Comcast to get cable in my area for months. There are only two other people on my segment as far as I can tell, and they leave their computer WIDE open. Couldn't go back to modem if someone paid me and it was a determining factor when I decided to move.
1. Cable Access?
2. DSL Access?
3. Do I like it?
4. Can I afford it?
5. How old is the roof?
