1. Go into BIOS setup and disable the floppy drive, and the LPT port, enable APM.
2. Switch keys around on the keyboard. Only do two though (harder to catch on). I've seen the :; key switched with the "' key :)
Another good key to switch (if they are the same size) is the backspace and backslash key's.

install vnc and mess with him all day long
install a great sound scheme for him and turn the volume WAY UP (stuff like - you did what with a goat! and Oh, you dirty birdy)
create a shutdown icon and place it in the run line of the win.ini - or better yet in the run line of the regestry - or as a scheduled task.
change the keyboard ampping to a devorak keyboard
change the system font to wingdings (delete the current font and set the font substitution.)
Change his color scheme to large LCD reverse
install Microsoft BOB
schedule his machine to run freecell, solitare, minesweeper, word, excel and run defrag every three minutes.
And last, but not least - plug in a microphone, turn the volume up and hide it, so that ever word muttered in anger is echoed throughout his work area.
First though do a "print screen" with his normal desktop. Then hide the icons, then use that printscreen as the new desktop. It will look like Icons, but really only be the background. Got that I idea from here. Lots more too.Quote:

I just called home and had one son set the other son's computer up like b4uc1i81 said in his post earlier. But the applied image is the windrivers page telling him what I did. I'll find out if he is very observant. He is 15.

Another old one is to place a DOS=SINGLE command in the config.sys & then reboot to MS-DOS mode. Turn off the machine while in DOS. Next time he turns on his machine, it will say, "Now restarting your MS-DOS program. Press ESC to return to Windows. However, with the command permanently in the Config.sys, it will return to the same place over and over again.
Simply remove the DOS=Single to return to normal. :p
it wont work on nt but my favorite it to put like 50 returns and a cls after the last line of the autoexec.... when you first goto edit c:\autoexec.bat most people dont scroll down.
the funny part is when you put label c: cursed at the end of it. They will boot into windows and goto my computer says c: cursed
they rename it and all is good till they reboot and have to relabel it again
Just install Windows ME, he'll wonder why his computer keeps crashing! :D
Seriously...use Tweak UI to set his desktop folder to C:\windows or something...his entire desktop will be filled with icons! :D

better yet, create a bmp file using print screen and paint, set it as the background, and then move all the icons off the screen.Quote:

startup poledit, and set it to not allow context menus (right click)
then also move the start menu to another part of the screen (if they have an office toolbar, put it on that side, and set it to off screen)
they will f@ck with it for hours and be on the line with tech support (make sure your not around, or about to quit (like i did when I was at tv guide...))
another idea is to velcro the mouse to the mouse pad, pretty harmless, but funny as hell to see their face when they go to use it and aren't expecting it.
you can also install intellipoint software, and flip the y and x axis to something like left/right is diagonal, and up/down is reversed.
then hide the icon in their tray.
but the average dumb user will start deleting all the files to "clean out" their system.Quote:

I am sure those files aren't needed...
but the two hours to re-build will be...
zip user.dat and system.dat
set his shell to either command.com or defag.exe in system.ini
remove IE shortcuts from the desktop and quickstart and replace with "c:\programfiles\internet explorer\iexplore.exe" -k (brings up IE in fullscreen mode with no navigational controls and no way to close short of ctrl F4 or ctrl W)
