Win 2000 is great!!! That is my primary OS at home - default on boot.ini
However, if you are into games, 2000 isn't that good at running the older type games. New ones are okay cos most of them have 2000 support.
I still keep a 1gig partition with win98se just in case I feel like digging any of those goodole oldies out of the cupboard. Other than that I would say I use 2000 prolly 95% of the time.
I have ME but didn't see why I should load an OS which I use 5% of the time hogging up 300mb extra hdd when 98se did the equiv. job.
Wouldn't it be wiser to just wait for the final version and then tell whether it's good or not???Quote:

I brought a time pc(uk) with me installed......it musn't have liked my hardware setup......every time i shut down
BSOD errors came to a point when i started it up one day 16 colors no mouse.....no sound all my drivers were disabled........
just installed win 2k......what a difference...... just need to sort my cr*ppy windriver out..........
Even the beta's of XP are not a patch on the beta's of 2K that I had.

- XP= Xtremely Pi$$ed off due to it overwriting my Win2k installation totally then deciding to not let me even get back into 2K when it set itself up as a dual boot system.
- XP= Xtremely Poor which is what Microsoft must be at the moment to even think about releasing this pile of junk later this year!!!
- XP= Xactly as we Planned it by releasing ME which so many people were pi$$ed off with that they will now go out and buy XP to try to allieviate the cock up they made.
- XP= X-Patriot, which is what Bill Gates will have to become when the USA and the DOJ realise his Anti=Piracy measures are an invasion of privacy and human rights https://forums.windrivers.com/
- XP= Xtremely Pathetic that IE6 (even in beta stages) doesn't have full support for DHTML, so a lot of sites you are stuck on the homepage as the navigation doesn't work!!!

Does Windows ME work well for you? Does it do what you need it to do? Then leave it alone - if it is better for you then why switch, I personally had nothing but problems with it, however I also am a bit picky and run some strange stuff.

I know for a fact that even legitimate users, such as myself and a lot of the others on the boards, will not want the hassle of phoning MS if and when we upgrade our hardware, and need to reinstall.
If MS are only releasing XP to make what they have lost on the NASDAQ, then I suggest that we all boycott this next version of Windows??
Anyway, I have made my mind up from the Beta versions I have recieved, so I don't kow why I am continuing posting on this thread.
