hey that's a cruel poem, but what the hell - we don't have it in the NE of Scotland. The 10 fans exist to cool my hard drives, graphics card and sound card. My TNT2 is clocked to something stupid, the SB-Live produces silly amounts of heat normally and the hard drives...well they'd warm the case by about 5-8 degrees C if left uncooled. There's not exactly much room for air to swill (more foot & mouth) about in the case so I just pile in fans to suck in and out what I can.
and another reason...I had a heap kicking about doing nothing, so I threw the lot in.
Fair enough mate, you can never have enough cooling. Do you wear ear defenders?
Dude! My ego is bruised! I thought I was king with 9 fans on my Athlon 550. Now I have to go buy two more! :)
Won't it get a bit cramped in that shell with 2 more fans? Just get a small window air conditioner.. *G*Quote:

The only fans I could ever get cheap enough were 80mm things - fairly quiet and it doesn't matter if I cook them. Right at the start of my fan spree, my PC did make a noise not dissimilar to a Boeing 747, but I solved that by a bit of handy shifting about (they were rubbing up the case). I wouldn't say the noise is too bad now; I just turn up the speakers further and I don't notice.

It doesnt appear to. My CD writer sometimes has problems, but it's a bit of a problem in itself for some reason...as far as I'm aware, fans aren't the cause. I juggle the things about regularly anyhow to find the best spots, so I'll maybe change something the next time and see what happens.
