I too have the proverbial 24 hr. cell/pager combo. And the laptop connected to my hip. I usually don't get "after hour" calls, but if I do, i can usually handle via remote sysop setup. Right now, I can guarentee none of my clients want me within 5000 miles or 30 seconds from their systems!

At work, I have a pager and a wireless phone (with headset).
When I'm on call, a laptop, a cellphone and a second pager are mine to "enjoy".
Personally, I have a cellphone for private use.
It was so much simpler in the old days. Slaves and prisoners only had one iron ball and chain to lug around <IMG SRC="smilies/rolleyes.gif" border="0">

I have a company-owned pager and my own cell phone and laptop that I use for company business. I work in systems support so I am not on call 24/7. However I do participate in many system tests and pilots (usually after hours or weekends) which require me to be on call at wierd hours. The laptop comes in handy by allowing me to transport work to and from home securely. I really don't need it but it is a great convenience.
I also have a side IT consulting business that has me on call for pretty much all of my "free" time. Good money, though. I love it!
