So you are saying that if my neighbours don't like the style of music I listen to then I shouldn't play it? Tough titties, if they don;t like it. I don't like the styles of music that they listen too, but I don't complain if they put it on loud as they don't if I play my music loud.
The law in the UK states that you can make as much noise as you wish as long as it is not before 7:30am and after 10:30 (or 11)pm.

Maybe you need to read posts before shooting off at someone. I never mentioned styles!

What about peoples right to have peace and quiet? You've gotta look at it from both sides of the fence. The neighbors have a right to have quiet if they want it. You want your neighbors to respect your right to listen to your music...you gotta respect their right not to.

Yeah, baby...I agree! If ya wanna play it loud, put on your headphones and turn your own eardrums and brain to mush without offending anyone... :p

There is an old saying:
Sound engineers that fry their ears find themselves with short careers.
Why you would destroy your hearing by listening to loud music is beyond me.
It's actually not a good idea to play your music loud. It acts as an advertisment to crooks that you have lots of good stuff to steal out of your car. Plus those dummies that have a huge visor decal that says "PIONEER" or some other car audio mfgr - might as well say "STEAL ME"
Loud music can also be a cause of road rage.
If Toronto can ban leaf blowers at any time of day because they are loud and noisy, then loud car stereo owners are not immune!

Anyone who plays thier music so loud as to interfere with my peace and quiet is a selfish *** that deserves to have his ears and brain turned to mush. if you want loud music put on headphones and blow your brains out. as for me if its that loud its too loud. Soapbox mode disengaged

Peoples choice in music is their own choice entirely. You cannot say that one genre of music is crap because you do not like it, as music is music and every type of music has it's own following who may think other types of music are crap as well.
I don't mind if people want to llisten to their music loud in their cars. I do it myself. I listen to my music loud at home and on hot days the windows are open wide. What is the difference to playing it loud in my car? Both are plainly audible to anyone within 1 mile of my house ( damn I love my Pioneer seperates :) ). But the Police can't do anything about the loud music as long as it is not before 7:30am or after 10:30pm (it does vary from country to country) if it comes from my house, so why should cars be any different?
People may think the genre of music I listen to is crap, but I bought it, I am playing it, if they don't want to listen to it, don't come within ear shot of my house :) :)

Around here in the states many towns and cities call it disturbing the peace and some are hefty fines.

It's called noise polution around here.
I'm not in my car that much, so I can't justify an expensive stereo for it. The factory Pontiac CD Player & speakers are good enough for me.
When I'm on the interstate, I crank it up. When I go through a town, I turn it down a bit. :)

Or in an extreme case, you didn't have your handgun ready....
A dude around here was in his car, some punk with his music up so loud he couldn't even yell at him - pulled his 9mm and started unloading. I don't remember right off if he killed the guy, but he did manage to hit the radio and the driver, multiple times.
so if yer thinkin its cool...remember others are crazy.
ps - if your cars loud as in exhaust 'cause its a classic, I'm all for that. :D

See, I don't really have a problem with loud music itself, but I hate it when people go around with the treble all the way down, the bass all the way up, and the volume as loud as it goes, because then all you hear is "thump, thump, thump thump" in a repetitive monotone pattern. If the music is just loud it's a completely different story.
-
It doesn't really bother me when you're on the interstate or actually moving but it gets kind of annoying when you are stopped at a light or somewhere and you can't even talk to the person in the car with you because of the guy with his stereo next to you.
My friend had a pretty good system in his old car. I rode with him a few times and I couldn't understand how he could still hear after he listened to his music so loud all the time. I also didn't see how his car was still running after all the vibrations. I'm not a car mechanic and don't know much about it, but it seems to me that it can't be too good for the car. The vibrations did give a nice massage though. :)

If my ears ring its to loud other than that I like the massage
