Here is a quote, but I don't know how reliable it is, since its from Comcast:
*********************************************
Philadelphia - October 16, 2001 - Comcast Cable Communications, Inc. Senior Vice President David Juliano today announced that Comcast and Excite@Home have reached an agreement to provision new high-speed Internet customers.
"Comcast and Excite@Home have reached an agreement that allows Comcast to continue deploying high-speed Internet services to our customers. Comcast is pleased that the two companies were able to reach this resolution quickly, without having any impact on new or existing customers," said Juliano.
**************************************************
Lets hope its true...
I just wonder with all this going on, how can they still advertise for service and take appontments to set people up?

Don't really know what to make out of this but here is what my cable provider says......
[quote]Charter Communications has not filed for bankruptcy.
@Home is the name of a third-party company that Charter has contracted with to provide Internet access and e-mail services to cable modem users in the home.
@Home has filed for bankruptcy. If you contract with Charter for @home services your cable modem service will end November 30th - if and only if the Bankruptcy Court agrees. Until that decision is handed down, no one knows with certainty what will happen.
Charter has stated that they will continue your Internet service via their Pipeline service in the event @Home disconnects its service.
However, I would take this opportunity to remind you that through SVSU you can take advantage of the Cardinal-Link cable modem service at a lower cost than Charter's Pipeline service.

They arent the only people losing their broadband on november 30th. I am on Telstra Bigpond Advnace Cable here in australia and due to changes in plans (3gig transfer limit being imposed on the unlimited plan) i am cancelling tomorrow. Mr. FEST is going back to dielup, not a happy day

It seems like my local Comcast @Home is also offering Roadrunner now, and is trying to get all their Cable Modem subscribers to their own network (ready Next spring).
I may jump ship to roadrunner if it comes to that, but if the courts grant Excite the ability to shut down, Comcast, AT&T and a few others will appeal, forcing them to stay up until they can get back to court.

Well, this doesn't affect me, as I am stuck in the 56k Doldrums....but I've noticed this has struck at the heart of many users. I saw this link and remembered this thread. May be no new information for the people who are following it... But this came from CNet.com titled "Finding a backup to Excite@Home."
