Lycia, I agree with you completely! And so Cobra, on your advice, I'm gonna check out that game now. I love Clive Barker as an author so that's a plus, too...
Never got into either of these genres, although I played a lot of Total Annhialation which I thought was pretty good.

Undying is a great game, turn out the lights, put the surround sound on. It's got great sound effects and Cobra's right it does play out like a Barker novel.

I'm playing the Gunman Chronicles game right now (the one that has most of my interest). You may also go snoop around the PC Gamer site (or the net) for Neil Manke's mods (Darkstar, and They Hunger). Opposing Force is fun occasionally too. I haven't gotten bored with this game in this genre.
Now I'm looking for good games in other genres besides FPS/TPS and fighting games...
Any suggestions?

Not flaming here, but Lycia, you probably don't like Quake and UT and such because you aren't any good at playing them. After about two months of practice I could go online or Lan and hold my own and have a lot of fun. Rainbow 6 is great, but being TK'ed 2 seconds into a game really sucked and I don't play it much anymore. Try CS or Firearms for Half-Life. Both are very good and much more realistic.

BY FAR the BEST first person shooter is Quake III. :D
Unreal Tournament is ok, its mainly all about being pretty... :p
Quake III plays sooooooooooo much smoother.
Real time strategy game, my vote goes for Black and White.... reason being, that is the closest thing I have to a RTS and it is a great game! LOL
I was introduced to Rogue Spear and Urban Ops and after having played Quake and QII, I am definitely sticking to Rogue Spear. The game is very addictive and the arena play on the MSN Gaming Zone is a blast when you time it right and have the right teams playing.
Counter-Strike by far.
There is one FPS that I hear nobody talk about, but it is honestly the best one I have ever played. It is Delta Force Land Warrior. You can check it out here.

Heheheh bliss...is having an 80 inch front projection screen on which to play Quake III. I'm sure there are other great games that are just as good if not better, but with the right game setup Quake makes for an awesome lan game, and its simplicity means you can invite a non-geek over and teach em how to use it quickly.
