I don't think this thread has anything to do with a hot deal. I think it's time we wrap this rant up.

Hey Q, If we need can we move this to another forum? I really want to keep up with others that had their orders canceled. Thanks

Sherrif - please don't close this thread - it is very interesting to read. If it cannot exist her,e please send it to the tech lounge o tech tales.
Now, I'm wondering, what if Best Buy had put this price in their catalog / flyer? What if the units themselves were marked with the $129.99 price tag?
If Best Buy does price matching, what if someone came in with that web page printed out and had them price match it? Would they contact the customer and say 'Hey, we're going to charge you an extra $270 because we goofed up.
By law, no matter what diclaimers they had, would have to honor that price. That federal law here in the US and if they do not honor it, that is concidered false advertisement, which is also against federal law.
Giving the thousands of people who ordered it $30 off is too litte, too late.
I smell a class action lawsuit coming, and Best Buy is going to get severly hurt form this. I'm not talking about even if they give everyone the $270 off (1800 people ordered it according to one of the links on this thread * $270 per incident is $486,000US. Half a milion dollars is a hard hit for a corperation like that, but wouldn't have many long tern effects on them. Itsa thew customer trust that they'll lose form all this.

I just wigged thu this thread ,,,,BUT kodak (UK) put up some cameras at £129.00 instead of £399.00 , on there website .,,,,after a lot of grief from a tv prog (watchdog) they honoured the price.
in the uk ,,,they can say "thats a display model ,,,,sorry we have sold out"

All I know is that I used to work for Giant, and usually when we had a printing error or any other error that was our fault they always gave the item to to cursomer. Usually for free. Now, I know that the majority of the time it was only a few bucks, but sometimes it ended up being several hundred. I also know that it is really up to the store/company to decide their policy on this.
Needless to say, it ended up in being a great marketing and customer satisfaction, and eventually indefinatly more valuable than the cost the store lost.

That's like going to Mercedes and trying to buy the $50,000 car for $5,000 cause they left off an "0". You'd get your @$$ laughed off the lot.</strong><hr></blockquote>
I agree, say you are selling one of your computers. You have a add in the paper, they print it wrong. Should you have to sell it for that price?? why should it be diff for them? just cause they have money?

Best Buy does not price match to "on-line, mail order, or membership club (costso sams club)"

What about price matching from their own site?
I know most companies won't match any web price, but they will match their own site.
Besides, sales are tough enough right now, that some managers will give it to you if you complain about it.

here you go guys.
don't know if you've seen this

That would be up to the discression of a manager, but there is so much more on the website than is in the store. A manager in the store most likely would NOT price match that, but would meet half way. So like 250.00. as far as sales go BBY's 4th quarter sales were up. aswell as the stupid bastards who think the louder you yell the more you get. I know for a FACT that, if you are more calm about any issue and you talk with a manager they are more willing to help. Would you want to help someone who is yelling swearing and threatning to sue (which is ground for the to swith all communitcations over t oa lawyer, which means they can't talk to you anymore.) So if you have a issue or complaint.
let me add. I like the fact that everyone has now become a lawyer!!

Wasn't a law degree a prerequisite for joining Windrivers? :D
As for beinig calm vs. yelling and screaming - it all depends on the manager. In my store, 2 of our managers are like night and day.
One of them will not bend if you're yelling. In fact, he'll yell back at you. Yet, if you're nice, he'll try to help you.
The other will bend over backwards for the customer once they seem upset, yet won't budge for someone who us calm and honest.
(For me? I'll go the extra mile for the customer who is honest & calm - if I can without putting my job on the line...
