True that, the US version bore NO resemblence to the Anime. I saw it in the Theatre (I just dated myself there,eh?) then I saw the fan subbed version, and thent he movie made sense.Quote:

I have to admit it, I'm an Anime junkie. Most the anime I've seen blows away the vast bulk of the crap Hollywood churns out. Characters have depth, are complex and there aren't always nauseatingly simplistic fixes and happy endings. (damn i sound like a cynic)
These are my favorites. What one's do you all like?
1. Galaxy Express 999:
2. Arcadia of my Youth:
3. Naussica (Known in the US as "Warriors of the Wind")
This is a question that runs along the same topic here:
Which do you prefer - Sub-titles, or Dubbed.
I refuse to watch americanised Anime...I prefer Sub-titles ALL the way.... :D
SUBBED-SUBBED-SUBBED!!!
Most American Voice Actors aren't Worth SH@t!
I will say Mononoke Hime, and Transformers the Movies did well *yes I know transformers was a US show*, hell even Tenchi Muyo wasn't THAT bad, but for the most part I'll Download only Subs when I can.
My favs include Gundam Wing, Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz, Trigun, Cowboy Beebop, Outlaw Star, Tenchi Muyo, the original Macross series, and Princess Mononoke.
I prefer the Japanese (with subtitles), uncut versions rather than the dubbed and usually butchered American versions.
What was the name of the show in which there were five kids and the one kid was retarded and the girl was hot, they had a huge space ship which was called the phinox (sp). I loved that show and I can't rememeber its name.
Fushigi Yuugi
I keep seeing this DVD set at my local store. Is it any good? The whole set is about $160(US) It looks intriguing but I want to make sure it's good before I buy the entire set.
BTW - I prefer the Japanese language with subtitles. I find on DVD's the sound is Dolby 5.1 instead of 2 channel stereo(On the english dubs)
Has anyone checked out "X" yet? Once again "X" is simply awesome.
You mean 'Battle of The Planets' with the Kids collectivly called G-Force (all dressed up in 'Bird' outfits :D :D That was cool!!!!Quote:

I love the series.
does Dragonball Z/GT count as Anime? if so its DBZ for me, if not its still a pretty cool cartoon.
Ninja Scroll
Ghost in the shell
Teknoman
Robotech
This ones not anime (not to my knowledge anyway) Aeon Flux, that cartoon rocked sooo bad.
I never seen many Animated films (unless you count Disney stuff), although Akira was excellent.
I've seen nearly every episode of Ranma and i loved it, also liked berserk and bastard as well as ghost in the shell (i know some on manga and some on OAV).
I forgot Aeon Flux. Which is sad, because I've a huge poster of her on my wall right behind me at home, and a copy of the Herodotus Files on my desk, and the DVD sitting upon my video shelf.Quote:

That was the coolest show EVER on MTV. I loved to get drunk or stoned and try to make sense of the plot. :D
My anime experience is limited, but here are my favs :
Project Ako
Ninja Scroll
Battle Angel
The Guyver
Ghost in the Shell
Street Fighter : I love when Chun Li kicks Vega's butt.
Anyway, there are a couple more I can picture, but can't quite remember the names. Oh well.
