Here's my system I put together,
C-700
256 MB Ram
40 GB 7200RPM HDD
Win XP Home
24X CD-Rom (So, no PCI)
3.5" FDD (gotta have one of those!)
MS Office XS SBE
2 Button mouse (It doesn't come with one???)
NO MONITOR:
$985
Add CD-RW $110
Modem : $25
Eh, not too great, but not too bad..

We're considering these Gateway Profiles for locations where space is at a premium. Everything except the keyboard and mouse are built into the display. We did a site visit to a Physician's office where these were wall mounted and used IR keyboards with an integrated mouse - no wires dangling across the exam room.
-
I would have thought it should have included some type of wireless and or infra red technology like blue tooth as it is trumpeted as being space saving technology.Other than that it looks a nice peice of kit with a good specification, looking very much the Atari clone that it does.
-
The dell Optiplex is pretty space saving too, while not sacrificing the "box" :D

The thing I hate about these PCs are that coffee spill scenario. One bad coffee spill, and your out of an entire PC versus just a keyboard.
How many of you drink coffee right in front of your keyboard???
I like this idea:
http://www.clearcube.com/
Having the PC in the server room and connecting the keyboard, mouse & monitor via USB. Keeps the PC coponents nice and safe!

"Oops I spilled cofee on my $1500 keyboard, now it won't work" :D :p :D
How 'bout one of these instead?
-
it's like the ol' C=64.
Pretty good for office environement.
-
well they do have a limited two year warrenty,I wonder if it covers coffee?
Perhaps they should design one that looks like a chair,at least it will keep your butt warm :)

We sold a bunch of those same style cases last year and have had nothing but problems with them. No air flow, crappy smelly steaming power supplies and a pain to service.
