Uh, am I the only one that thinks the finger is being pointed in the wrong direction?
Fair enough, the cop shouldnt have said "im on a quota" cos now he looks like an *******, but *you* were the one speeding, no one was forcing you. We've had the WRX's down under for years now, and they sit nicely next to the other home grown performance beasts we have, our office carpark is full of them, but not one of us complains when we get a ticket, for something we were obviously doing wrong.
Speeding laws are made to keep people who can't afford a lawyer from speeding. That's most people. Cash = Freedom.
Get a lawyer and cop to something that carries a higher fine but no points. Judges like that. And you pay more up front but less later in insurance costs.
As far as 72? That sucks but it depends on where you are. I've had cops pass me going 80 in a 55 here in Atlanta. On the other hand, I've been pulled over doing 68 in a 55 in New York. New York is full of troopers. I love Atlanta.. and now all my tax money goes here.

When you get out on the road with a 1 ton piece of metal and go barreling down a road, your not only taking your life in your hands but your taking the chance on hurting someone else. How are you going to explain to a surviving member of a family who you just wiped out how this whole thing happened?
What are you going to tell them?

I understand your feeling, man. I was testing my bike out, hit redline in third, going for fourth, when I saw a tailight ahead of me. Got nailed for 65 in a 55, cop said he would have let it slide, xcept my front forks were FULLY COMPRESSED as I went by at 65. No traffic, just miles of open road. What was that about end of month, COPMS, maybe? Just kidding all you cop likers!!
Points:
1) I speed. I pay my tickets. I drive really fast and I have been in 0 (zero) accidents. I have narrowly avoided several accidents that would have been someone else's fault (including a cop once.)
2) I don't mind paying my tickets, but I do mind losing my license almost annually. I think there should be some other formula for figuring who loses their license than "This guy has a lot of tickets and I'm the BMV so I said so."

Sounds like youve got a wonderful bloody attitude. Its people with that blaze` outlook that make the road dangerous for everyone, and ruin it for the people that do love cars, but can keep it under control. BTW redline in 1st = 55mph in earlier post. And anything over 130mph turned wide open into a fuzzy tunnel with clear vision front and rear. Caution advised, guys.
I'm a very careful and respectful driver. I only hot-rod when I'm not in traffic like most people, and for me that's not very much. In my 23 years of life I will and always will take full responsibility for my own actions, who says I'm not? I didn't blame the cop for anything; I just found it a little un-justifiable being that I was test-driving a car on an open highway where no traffic was around. Even the salesman and my girlfriend could not believe that he wrote me a ticket and they were both with me.Quote:

The heck with it, if your gonna speed your gonna. All I'm saying is that wether or not there was anybody on the road...the road had a speed limit and the cop was Justified in giving you a ticket. The speed limit sign doesn't give me a minimum # of drivers on the road before it goes into affect.

A simple..."Man, that sucks!" would have been a cool thing post. I was not looking to bash or be bashed. So much controversy over a simple little topic. Hummm....that’s the main reason why I don't hang on Windrivers very much anymore. Being an outsider to the Windrivers crew sucks, you don't get as much respect. Plain and simple for instance, this topic. It was a simple little topic of the day that I thought I would share to help pass the day by, maybe some could relate and maybe some could not. Leave the negative feed back out, please! What causes this? Why do people do this?

i was coming back to melbourne from philip island, middle of nowhere (almost straight road, about 2am, doing 130-140 kphs in 110kphs, and a cop car coming the other way does a dukes of hazard turn behind me, pulls me over and gives me ticket despite showing my uk passport!Quote:

he wasnt joking. cos we were leaving for home i gave my cousin the money/ticket to pay.. he never (he forgot). i had a letter from court saying they were doing me for not paying..
speeding is irresponsible, even if YOU think its appropriate at the time.
