IN order to dload VM, you need to use windows update, set your preferences to show update catalog, then do a search for "java". you will find the right download for virtual machine.

I was having the same problem with IE6. I found this link todaythrough the newsgroups on M$ web site. Hope you find this helpful

Actually, if you are looking for specific updates, you can goto
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/catalog
and get any specific ones you want.

been having trouble with this myself, thanks for the links, never could get the JAVA from SUN to work with some of the applets though :(
but microsoft vm works fine now :D
It all has to do with the Sun vs. Microsoft lawsuit. Microsoft made a Windows only version of Java which broke the licensing agreement with Sun. Sun won the suit and Microsoft was stuck using an older version of the VM (one that was still cross-platform compatible). Microsoft decided to break the new agreement by not shipping the VM with XP and still offering their non-cross-platform VM through Windows Update. This again broke the new agreement. Now Sun is suing for real.:rolleyes:
