I got a reply today! They said that the standards for MPEG files are all different and to use only the software they supplied. (MGI VideoSuck). Oh well.

LOL!
This whole thing sounds kinda like what I'm going through with Earthlink right now (except my problems with Earthlink are about 100 times worse than this). I've spoken with many many many different techs and customer support reps. They just pass the phone around and around and back and forth. Half the time they hang up on me. About one out of 20 techs seems to actually be helpful and know what he's talking about.
Here's Earthlink tech support:
1) They ask what kind of OS I have. Then when I tell them XP, they think that's great because it makes it easier.
2) Then they walk me through setting up a PPPoE dialup (even though I've already done that 1000 times and anyway I'm using a router.)
3) Then they ask me to "power cycle" my modem.
4) Then they ask me what kind of modem it is (shouldn't they know this? Doesn't everyone get the same god damn modem?)
5) Then by this point, I let them know that all the lights are on, solid green. This info doesn't seem to interest them however.
6) Then they put me on hold for another 10-15 minutes. If I'm lucky, they come back and tell me that they don't know what the problem is.
7) Then they issue me a ticket number,.. tell me it will take 24-48 hours to troubleshoot, and tell me to call back 3 days later.
8) Then after 3 days, I call back,.. they confirm that there's no ticket number on record, and we start this process all over again. LOL.
9) Then finally, in between all this, I get the ol' email thanking me for choosing Earthlink, and letting me know that they're happy that I chose them, and wishing me lots of fun with my new DSL connection.
LOL,.. this whole thing is a joke. And I can't even cancel cause it will cost me $200.00. But if it's still not working by next Tuesday (which is what they promised me after I spoke with them today) then I will cancel no matter what.
Anyway, sorry to ramble on and on about this all the time, but I just know how it is to deal with all this bullsh!t like what you're dealing with, with Adobe and/or Sony. It just plain SUCKS!!
I have a friend here that is using a ISP called Chello. (Cable)
He had a tech (Flash and bones) coming into his house every day for a full week trying to fix somthing with the connection.
He maneged to make the internet work but on the same time removed all drivers from the computer telling my friend that the only way to make his monitor display more then 16 colors is by installing 98se over the current 98
Solution :
1. Fdisk all the junk the "TECH" left.
2. Reinstall W98 - normal edition
3. Run the internet connection wizard - Vwalla Internet working :D
4. Reinstall drivers.
I was done before dinner was served.

I wonder if a reinstall would work for me. But I'd sure hate to go through all that hassle only to be back at square zero. Maybe I'll take a spare old HDD and try something like that tomorrow.
Normaly you can do without reinstall
It's a question of how meany Viruses/Kazaa/Morpheos/TopText/ and such are installd in the computer
In this case there was also a one nasty Purple Gorila
