A Light In The Attic? This is a favorite of my wife's from her childhood. I guess we must be terrible parents because we currently read it to our daughters (ages 6 months and 3 years).
A Wrinkle In Time? This was a favorite of mine in elementary school. It was a Newberry award book.

That list is completely littered with political agendas, from right to left wing agendas. That is the only way this list makes sense to me.
