That argument is about ancient history. 40 years ago…you realize that was over 8 executive cabinets ago? The cold war was at its peak, and the CIA ran the country. Things aren’t like that anymore, (so I hope anyway). This isn’t about cleaning up just our mess; the French perpetuated the problem by selling weapons to Iraq after the Gulf War to liberate Kuwait. The French government should take a personal stake in disarming Saddam, as is the US for their 40 year mistake…If Canada doesn’t want to join in, that is just fine…Quote:

Hmm. Sounds like the last sarcastic cry of an elitist. "None of you are smart enough to understand why your wrong and why I'm right so now I guess I'll play the martyr."
Bring on the Tar :D
Found this great quote.
The most fundamental fact about the ideas of the political left is that they do not work. Therefore we should not be surprised to find the left concentrated in institutions where ideas do not have to work in order to survive.

Ok Clammy, there is just 1 thing I dont agree with in all your statement here.
Shoudnt that title be "subVersive" and not "SubMersive" ???

The point is, and I quote as written:
That's right, I am a human being who is opposed to the war
Simply becacse civilians allways end up paying the price, and I do believe there is other alternatives.
Were suppose to be in 2003 AD, not BC.
Or are we still there............
Please, ohhhhh we are suppossed to be soooo civilized now. What a crock????
Ever watch a couple of moms fight over that last Cleetus doll at x-mas, ever watch parents at their kids anything, ever watch two dudes fight over a chick, ever watch any chick when a hotter chick walks into a room, ever watch two dogs doing it, ever get pissed when someone doesn't signal before a turn.
We have always been and always been animals, we have instinct, and the use of violence in order to protect ourselves and our "group" will always be with us. It is in our genes.
And you ever notice that there are more non-American's complaigning about the Bush election than actual Americans? What do they care, it isn't there country?
AND, if we had dropped in 2000 bubbas into Iraq and told them that there was no bag limit and they had a never ending supply of moonshine and chew, this whole thing would be done and over. Ever notice no one will attack America and send real troops???? Bubba factor baby, bubba factor!!!!!!
To oppose war in general is my belief, as well as the belief of probably well over 95% of the world population. But let’s be realistic, you can't stop all war without removing tyranny from power first. Next, you must rebuild governments with the idea that all are created equal. However, because of deeply held religious and cultural convictions this can’t easily be attained within one country, let alone several neighboring counties; an example is the Israelis and Palestinians feuding over the same land, each deeming it their own holly land. How many hundreds of years will that feud continue, and just who is even right?Quote:

Until we can all live under the same roof, with the same or similar beliefs, and can trust one and other completely, war will always be a part of our simple-minded culture. You can oppose it all that you want, but your voice will not be heard by those that can make the difference, because right now there are leaders in the world that can’t be fully trusted with the well being of the rest of the world at stake…Sometimes you have to sacrifice for your freedoms…
Oh yeah... yure right, I know, I've been to the US quite a few times. Even been to NJ.....Quote:

I was refering to the rest of the planet who may not quite share these views...
;)
Personally, I think this entire topic is beyond being "pro" or "anti" anything or other.
In general, human beings of all races, philosophical and polital ideals included would choose peace over war any time.
It would be very disturbing to me to find out someone actually wanted for any war to occur.
Having said that, I understand all the various reasons (political, economical, strategic) why the coalition is doing this. We live in a world now where waiting to be struck first before acting means you've probably already lost the conflict.
I also understand that the coalition is making impressive attempts at minimizing civilian casualties and I'm all for that. Wars always make victims. The US-led coalition invested a lot of time, planning and effort in making sure that their strikes were efficient and that civilian areas were not unduly targetted.
And I further understand that the flow of fanatical terrorism financed by regimes like Iraq's cannot be ignored just because it's happening elsewhere and that North America is just now having a taste of it.
But I know that I appreciate living in a country living under the protective umbrella of the US. When (not if) the time comes, I know the US will be there to honor its alliance with Canada, although I'm less than certain that the opposite could be true now.
It's a bad situation, whatever origin or reasons it had, but it could be worse. Don't forget the ultimate goal of Islam: world domination. The word itself means "submission". Maybe our viewpoint would be different if we lived in Iraq instead of North America.
I'm not saying this war is a good thing.
But I strongly believe it's the best way to handle this threat at this time.
