haven't been to a game this year because Fenway Park tickets are refriggindiculously priced.
However I get the Sox on NESN for free.
As for Sammy the hit he took on the helmet was the second scariest thing I have seen in a major sport. Right after Lawrence Taylor snapping Joe Theismans leg like pretzel.
I think Sammy may have known what he was doing. He was coming back from an injury, wasn't hitting and had nearly been killed a few weeks before. I am not justifying it but heck half the football players and maybe a third of the baseball players are using illegal supplements. Since all the trophy bats that they have tested (for example espn tested the bat he used to hit his 497 home run) show up OK I say let him have his mea culpa and move on. Now lets start with the mandatory drug testing and see who really deserves a place in the Hall of Shame.

Cork doesn't absorb water, and actually doesn’t even absorb air. Therefore using a term like porous is erroneous.

As far as the whole physics of the thing, it doesn’t matter if a cork in the bat or up his a$$ will make the ball go farther, what maters is the rules specifically state what a bat can be made of, so that there is an equal playing field amongst players. If the rules were violated, he should be punished.

Odd, yet you were one of the ones complaining in that other thread when the chick got arrested for an $11 warrant. Whats the difference, both are breaking the rules, and both should be punished?

I wasn't complaining. I think all ugly people should be arrested. As far as the major league rules…well the dude is paid a lot of money to play the game. That includes following the rules. If he makes a mistake like this and gets caught, I think he should be corked!

I think I'd have to put Bryce Florie taking a line drive to the eye ahead of Sammy on that list. Maybe even ahead of Theisman, although that was pretty sick.
