I' ve been using it for a few months on Win98SE machines running IE 6.0. And, I haven't noticed any resource problems at all...but having 256MB RAM doesn't hurt either. Also, getting all of those stupid popups take up resources also...plus taking up your own resources by having to physically close those things.
I've found a good hint to minimize that tool bar. Go to View/Toolbars and then Unselect Google. Close all IE windows. Reopen IE and then go back to View/Toolbars and Select Google. It will put it on the far right of your address bar and won't make a separate physical toolbar just for the Google Toolbar.
One Problem: When you select Full Screen to get rid of all Toolbars except for the navagation buttions, the popup blocking feature seems to go away also. I don't like that...wish I could go to Full Screen and block popups also. Oh well...maybe somebody's got a work around.
Overall tho, I like it! :thumbs2:
You should be able to move the Google Toolbar anywhere you want.
Just make sure you unlock the toolbars in IE by right clicking on the toolbar and de-select the "lock the toolbars" option.
I like to keep my Google bar to the right of the menu bar covering the Help menu item.
Oh, if the Google toolbar isn't showing, then popup blocking wont work. But you can make the Google toolbar show in full screen mode, just right click and re-select the Google toolbar; then resize as needed :) (unfortunately, you need to unlock the toobar before going into full screen mode)
I have had the Google Toolbar instaled for a long while, the new popup feature works pretty well.
just my .02...

Another vote FOR installing, its sweet
I hate toolbars. All of them. That being said, i've not only been using the google one from day one, I always add it on any install I do for customers. It's a free little touch that makes them come back for more. Google should give me a commission cheque!
I'm definitely a fan of google, but I haven't actually tried their toolbar. Since since you guys (and ladies?) like the search and popup block functionality I thought I'd point you to another freebie that I have found to be an absolute must. I like Mozilla, but hate that it has 'compatability' issues (actually because IE doesn't follow set standards), I found a mulitabbed browser with popup block, google searching and IE compatability (since it uses IE's 'engine'). Check it out if it grabs you:

The only thing I should warn you of; every once in a blue moon when closing the program, it will peg your cpu at 100%, their working on this bug, other than that; you'll find it indispensable. (All you have to do is kill avant.exe in the task manager)
