I, as with most other forum members (From what I have read here) have uses for both OS's. I tend to use 2k in office environments, and XP for home users. Although I have been pushing XP Pro into offices recently - simply because I've found myself in a postition where XP Pro is cheaper than 2k Pro.

Windows 2k
Pros: -Lower hardware requirements
-More service packs, and a more 'mature' OS
-Cleaner interface, and less desktop clutter
-Doesn't decide anything for you
Cons: -Not quite as secure out of the box
-Not as good at picking up devices
-Driver database not as new
-Given proper hardware, slower
-Not as stable
Windows Xp
Pros: -Stabler
-Faster boot-up time, and application load times given hardware
-Comes locked-down well out of the box
Cons: -$$ to upgrade hardware
-Funky, stupid interface
-SLOWER on identical systems
-Not quite as mature, and only 2 service packs (1, and 1A are 2 right?).
I do agree the "funky, stupid interface" is weird, but it can be altered or turned off so I wouldn't see that as a con. And as for being more mature, sure it was made after 2k. But to be honest, if an OS needs 4 service packs, that's not a particularly good OS. We all know how microsoft works and yeah i realize that's how things work... but I still prefer XP over 2000.... and I've had a chance to mess around with 2003 a bit and it looks better than 2k so far
