Unless you plan to take it off road, you should get your wife to swallow her ego and get a minivan. I know, no woman wants that soccer mom stereotype (mine included), but you will save $5,000+, have more usable seating/cargo capacity, and get better gas mileage.
yeah, I'd prefer that too actually, but she has her mind made up (I think).
how wood one go aboot talking someone into a minivan if they don;t want the soccer mom persona?
Don't expect very good mileage. On the highway I can get 16 if I drive 55-60 but at 80 that drops to 12-13. Driving around in traffic is alwo 12-13 and towing my camper I get 6 .Quote:

Personally (as a Dodge owner) I would have to say Chrysler products are like the Harley Davidson of automobiles. Like Dodge trucks and Jeeps are cool muscle type vehicles, but they tend to have lots of stuff go wrong all the time. My Dodge runs and has never let me down, but the engine has always made this weird sound like it was about to bite the bullet.
One day I brought it into this shop. This was a really nice, clean automotive shop. I told them that my truck makes a weird sound. I said I don't care how much it costs, just find whats causing this and fix it. So then, $1000, a new water pump and two pages of fixed stuff later,... I'm driving my truck and all is good. But the noise came back. Picture if your PCV valve was clogged or something and rattled because of it,.. and thats the noise that it makes. It sounds horrible at idle, and when you get on the gas, you hear this noise.
Anyway,.. if ur gonna buy a Dodge, but it brand new and give it a good test drive before deciding. Drive it up an incline,.. take it on the freeway. Listen for weird sounds. Observe how it feels when going over a speed bump. Stock Dodge suspention really sucks too.
You guys are making me glad I bought my Ford truck. 1993 F250 460ci 4x4 extended cab full bed. Hard to park in the parking lot, but I've got over 232K miles on it now with no major problems. Thats 232 thousand miles on the original motor.
Compromise! A Suburu Forrester! :thumbs2:Quote:

How about a Chevy Trailblazer? Those rock!

My mother in-law is finally tired of it. Even though she gets a family discount on everything Dodge/Chrysler, she is getting either a Honda or Toyota when her lease is up on her current Grand Cherokee. I guess this means my wife and I will no longer be the only unpopular ones at family gatherings. :)
Also, have you checked the annual auto issue that Consumer Reports puts out? I think they offer a really good unbiased judgement. Most car guides at the book store give a good review of everything. Consumer Reports is not afraid to give a bad review (just ask Suzuki).
