start, run type in sfc
click ok
It will popup a box - you can choose to scan all or replace one file.

err yes they are.... how many cabs do you have? should be about 70 of them.

All you have to do is tell sfc which file you want, what directory the cabs are in and where you want sfc to put the file after it has extracted.

you dont need a viewer, as I said, just give sfc the information posted above, it will do the rest. - 202 ? Last count there were 71 win98 cabs....

Then you will be buying a new copy of windows 98.
I am constantly amazed that people pay £70 upwards for a cd and a sticky label and promptly lose it!

Well, I figured that I was typing the wrong freaking thing into sfc, but I cleared my frazzled brain long enough to point it to the cabs and reinstall both explorer.exe and kernel32.dll. it hasn't given me the IPF message yet....we shall see.
