Scary thing is there is not much you can do to prevent these convulsions. My daughter had one when she was 1 1/2 years old, stopped breathing turned dark blue and scared the wits out of us. Doctors said it most likely would not happen again, which it didn't, but I know what you went through and have fellow feelings. Here is a quick read on them for any other parents out there.

Wow, I can't imagine the fear. Glad he's doing better now though. I totally understand what you mean about the nurses/doctors. You find the amazing ones in ICU and the rest can pale in comparison.

As yet another parent here I simply cannot imagine what you have just gone through. It scares me enough when they bang their heads or have a rough fall, but to hear that he stopped breathing for a while has got to be a parents worst nightmare. I hope everything continues to improve and that this episode in your life can be quickly left behind though obviously never forgotten. Please keep us informed of the little mans progress

Small children are very fragile (yet resiliant) things, I spent a whole year (almost) wondering how my little girl was gonna do, every parent here has probably got a similar tale or knows someone who has, so you have my every understanding at least & glad to hear 'little kato' is hopefully on the mend & keep us posted on his (hopefully) continually improving condition ;)

I can fully understand this; with a family of basket cases (wife has seizures and CP; eldest son has seizures, ADD, Tourette's, and all the developmental delays that go along with those...), I know where you're coming from.
Nothing worse than waking up in the middle of the night to find the wife on the floor in a pool of blood because she had a quick 5-second seizure and her head hit the corner of the kitchen table; or kid being deprived of meds for a few days during testing, and upon arriving home has a chain of long-duration grand mals that caused him to turn blue, and got him an ambulance ride....
I know all too well the stress you're under.
Hang in there!

Wow, Kato!
Your family is indeed in my prayers. I can only imagine the sheer terror.
I fixed a computer for a woman yesterday who is a recent widow. It gave me a lot to think about, and now I see this first thing this morning.
EVERY day is a gift!
