Right click background, click properties, click desktop, click NONE, click the color box and choose black. You are now good to go.

In your travels, anyone, have you come across some that are good for spanning two monitors? I have a 17" Dell, and an Acer 15" LCD. Very few images that look good on multiple monitors.

Maybe I just should take one of those small bitmap images that are supposed to be tiled and just have it stretched to fit the desktop instead.
