OE is like the Lite version of Outlook right,
I used OE for Hotmail when i first got my e-mail address stopped using as it got to be a pain later.
Personally I just mainly read email and write email which is why I haven't switched to Outlook yet. I have zero use for the calendar. If I have to start doing any calendar stuff, then I for sure would go to Outlook.
How do you do the backup in Outlook? I use Outlook 2000Quote:

I'm thinking of going to Mozilla's Thunderbird, but it's such a pain to switch email programs (transfer accounts from Hotmail, pop3's, and old messages in strange MS formats... blah!), and from hotmail's somewhat but not quite pop3 persona.
I should just run my own email server, and say screw the rest of that crap.
Disclaimer: Yes the OfficeXP cd was a burned copy, but my school that i'm attending has campus license, and i've been attending since last freakin millenium.
Interesting comment there gerf. I actually thought Outlook 2003 was the best version to date. I still won't use it though :D
I have used both Outlook and OExpress versions and more or less I have no real complaints. But when I tried the free version of Incredimail (www.incredimail.com) I never looked back to microsoft's e-mail software. Incredimail had a nice built in junk mail filter, it would bounce e-mails back to servers, so the sender thinks your e-mail doesn't work or doesn't excist. It also imports e-mails from many programs... It's only draw back is that you can't export your e-mail. But it does have a great back up function so you can import your mail back into incredimail when you need reinstall your PC.. but you have to make a backup and save it to disk 1st (duh). HHHMMM... hard to list all the features here... and for most but not all e-mail address it will setup your e-mail setting automaticly... that includes hotmail and most universities accounts!!
oh!! if you want export back into any other e-mail program you need to find a free program called incrediconvert and here is a link just incase you can't find it..

that should cover mind opinion of what software to use... :-)
Naw, you ain't. I have to use Outlook at work but at home I am 100% Outlook Express.Quote:

Although I do set up Mozilla Thunderbird on customers PCs now - as well as Firefox as the browser. Fix the spyware, get them using Firefox/Thunderbird. Less chance of more problems
Outlook at home and work...carry my .pst file on a USB stick drive, and I have everything I need both places without annoyance. Just make a backup copy every so often so I don't lose it if the pen drive craps out.
Use Outlook at work and at home. Looking for something different though, all this reliance on MS is not good especially when they finally get around to giving me broadband at home.
So Mozilla is a good alternative?
