They wear the small outfits so that sand can't collect in pockets or seams or stick to the fabric. The more sand you carry the heavier you are. Yea, that's why they do it... :drink:

The only reason I watched the gymnastics section at all is because I live in the town where Mary Lou Retton is from (1982 world champion, first ever for the us)

Who gives a flying F*** whether you have the medal around your neck? You know damn well who really won and who really lost, and it's not even like it is a secret from the audience or the world at large either! The Olympics shouldn't be "finders keepers losers weepers", and anyone who thinks otherwise needs to reexamine the reasons they like sports.
