I agree, best to go for a suite of benchmarks, PCMARK, SiSoft Sandra, etc. and even the small budget free ones. Or just benchmark games, real world performance.
Being confus-ed & all .. I'm now sat here wondering whether I should put ;- started cheating as much, continued cheating as much, needed to cheat as much or just agree that most benchmarks are just so skewed they are a complete waste of time ?Quote:
..havent started cheating as well..
3DMark05 tech FAQ - Futuremark has attempted to answer the most common technical questions (PDF) about 3DMark05 in a new technical FAQ just released.
I'd say that most synthetic benchmarks are too skewed to be useful. In game benchmarks are still the best way to measure cards.Quote:

5225 for an EVGA 6800GT, A64 3000+ socket 754. Also scored almost 69k on Aquamark.

4648 after replacing the aluminum heatsink with copper.
That was all you did? You didn't replace it and get more of an overclock? I haven't purchased the heatsink from EVGA yet...keeps the warranty though. I'll probably go SLI this fall anway...with an FX chip or dual core.
Joe
SLI huh? A bit pricey for me. Like the Dual 6600's in that Gigabyte model.
What is the point of the dual 6600GT Gigabyte card? You just don't wanna upgrade your mobo or what....because the dual gpu card costs the same as buying the parts separately according to the following article. I'd rather have 2 cards in my pc so it looks cool....if the cost is the same. They don't make one with dual 6800GT's or anything but the 6600GT. If you're gonna go dual gpu...make it worth the while. =)Quote:

I said I liked it, never said I wanted one, I'd rather spend the money on a single card. And SLI is still too much, there should be a kit so that the cards cost less.
And the SLI boards are still a bit twitchy, better to wait a while to get one. Plus ATI has a version of SLI, w/o that little connector on the top.
The ATI version isn't even out yet. I assumed you liked the 6600GT since you had posted and used the word like...guess I misread. I'll believe ATI has it when I see it or when atleast someone has benchmarked...maybe...atleast an early version? What do you mean by the boards are twitchy? I don't recall any problems in the forums or during benchmarks...maybe I missed something. The only thing I know is 2 6800 Ultras in SLI are fast as crap! Also...maybe you missed where I said this fall....when stuff is more affordable. The 6800GT in my pc is more than adequate for what I play at the moment.Quote:

Its just a nice idea thats all, 2xGPU's.
Sure 6800's are screaming, just the SLI boards are still new and I'm just waiting for the kinks to be ironed out, there are still driver issues, and games arent well adapted to it. In an ideal world, all VGA Cards should be capable of SLI, that way even a cheap set of 6200's could be SLI'd.
Well hope you enjoy your SLI, remember to post those enormous scores here!
