Yep, dialup is kill yourself bad, specially when your sharing a line with three others , but until "middle of nowhere" is considered a profitable location, I'll just have to keep on staring at that loaded .38 on top my monitor.

What about those of us who don't have internet at home?
ADSL at home.
I had my broadband installation booked but I cancelled it because of location problems. I need to connect my husband upstairs but I do not want all that cabling and resultant loss of efficiency and I do not want to use WiFi because I do not trust it and next door use broadband on the same ISP and their computer is the other side of the wall to mine.
I hate dial up, ntl times out after two hours or less and has interrupted my MCP practice sessions when I attempt a two hour exam simulation. I find ntl dial up very unreliable and a nuisance when you have to keep giving your mobile number to people because you know the phone will be tied up on the Internet.
With a proper security configuration (WEP key, no SSID broadcasting, etc.), there should be no risk at all. ;)Quote:

Personally, I'm going all wireless as soon as I can. https://forums.windrivers.com/images.../2005/03/1.gif
Im Wifi ON.
Wifi is great! WEP is useless, turn off the ssid and use mac filtering. The only time you will notice your hubby is if he downloads huge files from fast servers.
MAC filtering is the way to go, its excellent. i use it and the guy nearby keeps asking why he cant connect to my network, hehe

Dialup at home, T1 at work.
Verizon won't get off their collective asses and get DSL service in my area...keep getting the standard "should be available in 12-18 months", althought they've been saying that for 3 years...
Bradband both at home and work
At home, DSL.
At work, we have a point to point wirless connection with 3MB bursts, plus a 3MB DSL line hooked up through a load balancing router.

I gotta agree with iltu. the internet is more important than tv, phone, cell, car, food (i could stand to skip a few meals), family, people, animals, earth, anything and everything except for Al Gore, because he invented the internet  :D
