The setup or install file should be inside the folder you just made by unzipping the download ?

Did you manage that ? make a folder on your desktop, so you can find it, open up whatever you are unzipping by double clicking, choose 'select all' & then 'extract to' & point it at the new empty folder you just made - then if you look in your new folder you should see it contains the fully uncompressed files {& sometimes slightly renamed, as often the first character is apparently missing in files in zips} you could see 'within' the zip folder

Ok mate, i have created a folder on my desktop and extracted the vga to there, but i can't make it a colour file. It still won't let me change from 16 colours, and it still says the best driver is already in use.

Ok dude, you are a little confus-ed ! ;)

A 'Colour file' as you call it, ICM (Image Colour Matching) files to geeks, is what your monitor uses in conjunction with a video driver (what you just got) to correct the image you see in terms of colours & brightness etc to what a 'standard one' is meant to produce - simply put Sony's, say, version of blue is a bit different to IBM's version of blue etc & these files make them 'the same' ..

The fact that you still only have a choice of 16 colours isn't to do with this ICM file one iddy biddy bit ;) - that's to do with your video driver & so I think you are still using the wrong driver !

What shows up in device manager ?(right click my computer, properties, 'hardware' tab & then there's a button) we want to know what item it shows there for 'display adapters' - I think you are gonna find two entries, one for 'standard vga' (what you are apparently using) & one for the actual card - if so try starting in safe mode & remove both entries & windows stands a good job of finding it 'right' but it may still decide to find 'standard vga' (depends how the thing is signalling to windows) in which case you want to try & update that by using device manager & pointing it at what you downloaded, as the '.inf' & '.cat' files needed look to be in the downloads hudonsmith pointed you to earlier ..

Read & try all of that & let us know how you get on :) !

In device manager and display adapters there is only 1 not 2, it just says standard PCI graphics adapter (VGA)

I downloaded the first driver from the earlier post, unzipped it, created a folder and extracted it to there, what do i do just to get my colours back!!! That's all i want is the colour!!! It's so annoying it's funny!!!

Look in the folder where you extracted the files. There should be a file named setup.exe. Run it.

Is there a setup.exe file in the folder where you unzipped? Run that.

If there is no executable, go back to upgrading your driver. This time, tell windows where to look for the file. Write down the location of where you unzipped the files if you have to. In any event, get windows to see the files that you unzipped.

There is only 1 file in the folder with VGA under it, no setup or anything else.
I have now deleted everything from winzip, deleted the folder and everything!
I'm starting from scratch again now.

Created a new folder and extracted all the files to there and i now have 25 files in the folder, however, there is no setup.exe.

Now what? Am i even close to getting my colours back?

A step by step guide would maybe be easier for me to understand cos i don't really get all the jargon!

So far i have -
Downloaded the driver
Select all files
extract them to new folder on desktop from winzip.

You lads have been proper diamonds for putting up with me!!

That one ! (it is actually called setup.exe, I know I just downloaded both zips to have a look - windows hides known file extensions & replaces them with their function - in this case 'application' ;))
